Mechanical Engineering Placement Student

Location: Across 3 chemical manufacturing sites in Cheshire

Salary: £18000pa

Start Date: September 2020

Whats the role?
As a mechanical engineer trainee, you will be working under the guidance of a Mechanical Engineer and will be involved in all aspects of mechanical activity at one of our chemical manufacturing plants across Cheshire. Not only will you gain tonnes of engineering experience, you'll be ready to step up to new challenges with confidence and could find yourself in a great position to be fast-tracked to a graduate position with us in the future. Fulfilling a 12 month placement is an ideal opportunity for a student to gain excellent industry experience, working alongside a diverse workforce of graduate and experienced professionals.
As the type of roles within our business are becoming more diverse, we are looking for people who are open minded, excellent problem solvers and who have an ability to learn quickly.

What will you do for 12 months
Provide mechanical contribution on projects within the company
Contribute to mechanical design and development
Work within project teams, providing accurate mechanical engineering output and assisting in the provision of technical information to ensure informed decision making
Liaise with other functions for example electrical, quality and production to ensure product & customer requirements are fully satisfied
Create documentation to support manufacture, test and inspection of mechanical items
Develop designs for improvement projects that reduce cost, improve quality, improve plant capacity, improve reliability to ensure the continued safe operation of the plants, with minimal environmental impact
Carry out design calculations ensuring full compliance with all relevant codes, standards and Environmental Health and Safety requirements

Knowledge of mechanical engineering industry trends new and advancing tools, techniques and technologies.
Placement experience within an engineering department

Ideally you are currently studying a mechanical engineering degree (preferably in second or third year) on track for a 1st or a 2:1
