A Mechanical Engineer is required for a 6-month contract role with BAE Systems in Portsmouth, working on Maritime programmes.
The selected Engineer will deliver professional engineering services to Warship Support in the areas of Naval Marine Mechanical Equipment and Systems.
The Mechanical Engineer will be required to undertake and, in some cases, lead others in activities across the breadth of the engineering lifecycle to support in-service Naval Marine Platforms. These may include:
- Problem understanding and root cause analysis, requirements/acceptance development, feasibility studies, concept design and engineering analysis activities.
- Equipment and system design definition to critical design review (CDR) maturity in line with all relevant governance processes and technical/safety/quality requirements.
- Undertake design substantiation via calculation for marine mechanical systems and equipment. This shall include mechanical simulation/analysis in the areas of structures, fluids and heat transfer, incorporating appropriate optimisation and V&V routines.
- The integration, commissioning, test, trial and acceptance of design solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering capability across a broad set of challenges to meet the needs of specific Naval platforms, the EPG team and the customer programme.
