We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Designer based at Westlakes, Cumbria.

Our Client is looking for a Mechanical Designer who is required to supplement our existing design team, working on the Sellafield BEPPS DIF project. You will be reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, in addition to integrating with an existing Sellafield Ltd team.

The initial task involves design of a shield door access platform, from concept through to detail design for manufacture, followed by the probability of designs for a crane modification. These tasks are likely to lead to further BEPPS DIF scope, or work on other clients mechanical projects and tasks in our increasingly busy Westlakes office. The initial scope may be delivered remotely, with no little or no requirement to work on Sellafield site.

The candidate must be familiar with 3D Inventor modelling and Autocad.
Provide information and progress reporting.
Provide design solutions for the nuclear industry and the production of:
Design Schemes
Design Proposal Drawings
Detail Drawings
General Assemblies
Identify or respond to task variations through formal change control.
Contribute to delivery of multi-discipline work package to programme, budget and required quality.
Able to undertake checking of Mechanical deliverables (up to SQEP level).
Have working knowledge and experience in applying relevant EH&S issues as required by legislation (and applicable Directives).
Has contributed to Designers Risk Assessments / Design Reviews and ideally at HAZOP studies.
Is proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Inventor Has a knowledge of fabrication techniques.
Has a knowledge of achievable manufacturing accuracy, Ideally will have some hands on experience
Good knowledge of Geometric tolerancing, weld symbols, limits and fits, surface finish.
Good working knowledge of commonly used materials and standards.

Preferably HNC qualified (ONC Minimum) with relevant technical experience

SC Security Clearance will be an advantage
