Our Bristol Client has a requirement for a Materials and Process Engineer to undertake the below contract role.

ROLE PURPOSE:


The Additive Manufacturing (AM) organisation based at Filton, Bristol, is maturing and deploying AM techniques in both metallic and plastic components to Aerospace components for a growing list of International customers.
The role is to provide Material and Process expertise to the Additive Manufacturing industrial and development cell and support component and process qualification programmes, review component test results and generate technical reports on the findings of trials and testing
The successful candidate will work alongside a team of experienced Process Specialists, Engineering Technicians, Design & Analysis Engineers, Materials Scientists and other manufacturing Engineers.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The following Tasks are included:
Working to solve problems that may arise either during the manufacturing process or with the finished product
Management of testing, evaluation and investigation programmes
Review and authorisation of component test results
Operation of test machines as part of a development program
Preparation of test plans to assess and approve new products or alternatives
Technical disposition on data, reports, or investigation into performance against product specification or design expectation
Preparation of a Materials and Processes knowledge database for exploitation by Engineering and Manufacturing
Considering the implications for waste and other environmental pollution issues of any product or process;
Advising on the adaptability of a plant to new processes and materials;
Providing Leadership on REACh and COSHH related issues

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:


3-5 years relevant aerospace experience
Understanding of metals specifically Titanium
Understanding of component qualification programmes
An understanding of Additive Manufacturing would be advantageous however on the job training can be provided
Knowledge of strength and fatigue testing on novel aerospace test pieces and components
A good knowledge of NDT techniques including CT, dye-penetrant, X-ray, eddy current and ultrasonic inspection
