We have an exciting opportunity for a MARKETING / PR and FUNDRAISING OFFICER to be based in Workington, Cumbria with occasional working in other local branch offices.

This is a permanent position with an attractive salary and usual benefits including health scheme, 25 plus 8 statutory days leave and company pension contributions.

You will act as a brand ambassador for the charity and seek opportunities to enhance the brand across the organisation as well as manage projects


To design and produce promotional and marketing materials, as required, which comply with the Company Brand, in terms of both visual and verbal style

To design and produce promotional and marketing materials for joint initiatives with partner organisations in line with their respective brands, as required

To produce high quality, professional business documents and materials, including business cards, presentations, organisational structures and charts and Annual Review

To support media activities, including organising interviews, photo opportunities etc

To ensure the Company website is regularly updated and maximise the opportunities for promoting the organisation's activities and service offers

Organise and produce advertising

Continue to develop skills in marketing, graphic design, social media and advertising

Drive the external and internal communication strategy and tactics of the Company

Work with management team to promote the sale of retail, paid for services and funded services across the organisation, identifying new opportunities and supporting management team members

Manage Marketing, PR and Fundraising campaigns

Produce an annual Marketing and Events Calendar to assist with the planning, organisation and promotion of activities, campaigns and events

Be an integral part of the management team in regards to Marketing, PR and Fundraising

Liaise with finance on an appropriate budget for Marketing, PR and Fundraising

Develop and implement fundraising opportunities throughout West Cumbria and develop partnerships with other charities, brands and organisation to drive and promote marketing and fundraising activities

Work with colleagues to identify, market and sell craft ware which clients and volunteers may produce as part of therapeutic support opportunities

Map the customer journey for each service, to identify opportunities to promote our work

Identify marketing strategies for each service line and generic messaging

Utilise all forms of media - traditional, online and social media

Develop a consistent approach to marketing and fund raising


To provide support to the income generation capacity of the organisation and ensure a positive company image of is promoted through Public Relations activities

Liaise with company Marketing and Communication initiative's and brand guidelines
Apply guidelines consistently across all communication platforms
Identify, manage and budget contractors relating to your function
Project manage editorial work &and ensure any communication is tailored to the audience being addressed
Satisfy reporting and audit requirements


Evidenced with online and offline content and various channels
Degree or equivalent marketing qualification preferred but not essential
Background in the commercial sector - 3rd sector experience not essential
Evidenced track record of meeting demanding targets and delivering strategic outcomes is essential
Experience of analyzing, interpreting and disseminating financial, marketing and sales information
Experience of senior stakeholder management


Hands on, creative, innovative, confident, commercially aware, proactive and flexible in approach
Able to focus on and understand the needs of internal and external customers
Comfortable writing materials for use online as you are presenting your ideas to stakeholders
Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
Analytical mind and familiarity with data analysis principles to support robust review of retail performance.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Acrobat / marketing software
Proficient with the various social media channels
Ability to update our website design and content
Work as part of several teams
