SCOPE OF THE JOB i.e. Scope (Regional, Global, Local),
Global market coverage for all market segments for fluorochemicals.
Europe, Middle East & Africa coverage for fluorspar, HF & AlF3.
COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB
The fluorochemical markets are complex, subject to significant competition, regulation and competing 'not in kind' products. Significant interpretation is required for market models to be meaningful. There is significant challenge in obtaining data and generating models.
To interpret the markets in which the client operates or are interested in operating and so provide business leaders with a sound understanding of key market issues that impact regional and global business strategy
Work closely with key business managers to gain knowledge of the markets and industry
Agree a plan with manager for market research activity and analysis, as well as required model output
To design, write, maintain, validate and keep updated 5-10 year strategic market forecast models for the Client products. Models to include supply/demand balances, regulatory impacts, competitor activity, customer activity and macro-economic factors
Networking with the key industry bodies across each region industry
Monitoring of competitor activity
Working closely with the Regulatory Affairs Manager as well as sales and marketing
Building a good understanding of customer requirements
Present market models to global and regional commercial managers, including scenario testing and interpretation, as required to support any decisions being taken
Agree priorities to focus the modelling work and scenario planning with Business Manager
Develop a good understanding of the key drivers affecting decision making
Models should be developed to enable scenario type testing
To work as part of project teams to provide market modelling expertise for new products, acquisitions or new investments that the client may be considering
Produce market and product information in a format to enable and support timely financial assessment of projects.
To act as the company expert in market modelling and market research and to develop the level of expertise such that the client has an excellent capability in this area.
Using market research techniques to gather data in a variety of ways.To develop excellent knowledge of sound data sources and references.
Market models developed which can easily be interpreted and used for decision making.To provide a news stream containing key information on competitor or market developments.
Receiving news feeds, filtering them to identify important and relevant information, determining impact on the client, producing useful summaries
Highly competent on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent communication skills
Ability to produce visually impactful information, using a range of techniques
Minimum of 3 years' experience within market analysis and modelling
Knowledge of the chemical industry
Understanding of competition Law
Degree level education with Marketing degree or equivalent preferred
