Job Description

Job Title: HSE Manager

Salary: £35k – £40k plus excellent benefits

Location: Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Manchester, Bolton, Bury

A leading manufacturer with an objective to become best in class for site HSE are looking to recruit a HSE Manager promote a positive health and safety culture within the workplace. The successful individual will have full responsibility for all HSE matters, and will be tasked to continually improve safety culture.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparing Health and Safety strategies and developing internal policies in line with the companies investment and growth plans
  • Carrying out risk assessments and site inspections
  • Designing safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
  • Making changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation
  • Training shop floor through to Director level
  • Maintaining HSE records to produce statistics for management
  • Ensuring the business is up to date with new legislation
  • Ensuring the safe installation of equipment
  • Managing and organising the safe holding of hazardous materials
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases with the assistance of specialist external bodies
  • Lead on H&S committee meetings

Training, Skills and Experience required:

  • You will, as a minimum, be NEBOSH Qualified.
  • Experience of working with regulatory bodies such as the HSE and EA
  • Strong practical experience in a Health, Safety & Environment management role within a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, people management skills and effectively manage relationships are all essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills are essential together with passion and tenacity to influence colleagues at all levels to drive cultural change.
  • Proactive style, highly visible, committed to promoting a positive attitudes, safe behaviour & continuous improvement.
