Our Client based in Stevenage has a requirement for a Manufacturing Engineer to work on the below contract.

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide Assembly Integration and test (AIT), mechanical engineering support based on robust processes, activity control sheets (ACSs) and procedures, for the assembly and integration of earth, navigation and scientific spacecraft. Supporting spacecraft environmental testing including thermal, vibration, payload deployment and shock testing. Supporting spacecraft launch activities at launch site including spacecraft handling and coordination of mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE). Leading the design, manufacture and procurement of MGSE for use during spacecraft AIT. Resolving non-conformance to the design.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Preparation Phase -
Support in the creation of documentation required for the production phases, including ACS inputs, work instructions, and procedures.
Support Process Owner team in all aspects of their role.

Project Operational Phase -
Oversee and support integration activities on the spacecraft.
Writing spacecraft build & test documentation and leading its acceptance until completion of successful integration readiness review.
Leading lifting/ handling of the spacecraft as operations director.
Supporting the AIT Lead Engineer in periods of high workload.
Support process owners with observation resolution and operational activities.
Support in the production of re-work instructions based on project requirements and identify parts and tooling required to carry them out.

Non Project -
Design of tooling (MGSE) / build aids for assembly execution
Produce new processes, undertake process improvement and maintenance and monitor process implementation in operations.


KEY COMPETENCIES:

Ability to master MAIT facilities, machines, shop floor & software tools, and MAIT working methods (traceability, maintenance, self assessment, etc.).
Knowledge and use of MAIT facilities, machines and shop floor tools & consumables. It includes manufacturing machines (milling, turning, drilling machines), lifting machines (cranes, elevator platforms, etc.) and test means (thermal vacuum, mechanical tests, autoclaves, etc.).
Know how to ensure the MAIT means integrity by regular first level maintenance.
Know how to record MAIT key parameters (tools used, part number, operators, etc.) in order to ensure proper traceability.
Knowledge of MAIT software tools (e.g. SOLUMINA, SAP, etc.).
Know how to comply with rules & standards and self-assess the compliance of the achieved task (as-built vs. as designed) using the appropriate methods and tools. If needed, release the applicable non-conformance documents.
Ability to produce the necessary documentation prior to perform MAIT activities (manufacturing dossier and routing cards, assembly procedures, test procedure, etc.).
Know how to produce the necessary documentation prior to perform assembly & integration activities (assembly/integration dossier, product tree, flowcharts, assembly kits, etc.), including inspection steps.
Know how to produce the necessary documentation prior to perform manufacturing activities (manufacturing dossier, routing cards, etc.), including inspection steps.
Know how to produce the necessary documentation prior to perform testing activities (test procedures, adaptors assembly and set-up, etc.), including inspection steps.
Comply with the MAIT processes and documentation in order to guarantee the integrity of the product.
Know how to find, use and comply with MAIT documents (procedures, 3D numerical mock-up, 2D drawings, work orders, shop travellers, routing cards, logbooks, etc.).
Knowledge of parts and/or equipment's and/or final product functionalities, performances, interfaces, etc., through the product documentation.
Ability to comply with health, safety and cleanliness rules.
Knowledge and compliance with clean room and workshop rules (shoes protections, lab coat, environment conditions, etc.).
Knowledge of health and safety factors:
