Who are we?
Tata Chemicals Europe (TCE) is the UK's sole producer of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, as well as the market leading producer of salt. We are also one of Europe's leading producers of these and other related products.
There are exciting times ahead for us as we embark on major investment across all our manufacturing sites in Cheshire to grow the business and deliver reliable high quality products into increasingly diverse markets.
This programme of investment and development at our Lostock site includes major infrastructure projects that will secure our position as a market leader in the production of Soda Ash.
What will you be doing?
Providing leadership and technical guidance to a large multi-disciplinary maintenance team comprising of CE and Mechanical teams, to maximise maintenance performance and asset reliability, in close conjunction with the Operations team.
Ensuring good safety practice and compliance with legislative and company standards are maintained across all maintenance activities.
Nurturing the leadership capability of the Maintenance supervisory team, to ensure that good work standards are set and maintained and that performance and career discussions effectively feed into succession planning and talent development activities.
Developing and reporting on a suite of KPIs and set stretch targets to measure improvement in the planning and execution of maintenance activities.
What kind of person are we looking for?
Ideally a Chartered Engineer with a relevant engineering degree or someone with extensive experience of maintenance management, gained in a heavy chemicals environment.
You will be a strong yet engaging people manager and role model, who listens and communicates well with their own team and across functions.
When times are tough you will be the person your team rely on to remain calm and visible on site, supporting effective decision making, providing clear direction and regular feedback to the team and other stakeholders.
You will have a proven track record and knowledge of:
Effective budget management and cost reduction.
SHE legislation including PUWER, LOLER, PSSR.
Valves, pipes, flanges, gaskets and maintenance practices.
Experience of applying World Class Maintenance Techniques (e.g. TPM, SMED, RCM) and a background in applying modern maintenance and reliability strategies, to achieve improvements in reliability would be an advantage.
This role will require a flexible approach to work, with some necessity to work outside of normal hours.
