Morson International is recruiting Reactor Fitters - Mechanical to work on reactor systems and equipment that are associated with the power plant for Royal Navy nuclear submarines.

To start ASAP

6 months contract initially

Standard hours : 36 a week

Possible overtime on weekdays, weekends, Bank holidays

Reactor Fitters - Mechanical


The role is for Mechanical fitters to work on reactor systems and equipment that are associated with the power plant for Royal Navy nuclear submarines.


You will provide hands on engineering support within a multi-skilled team environment carrying out work on reactor systems and equipment as part of the refits and maintenance of Royal Navy submarines.


Job requirements:


Excellent Health & Safety awareness with a pro-active approach to maintaining a safe working environment.
You will be required to work within the reactor compartments of submarines.
Working within controlled radiation environment using specialist PPE.
Need to be or prepared to become a registered radiation worker.
Security cleared to SC level (can be applied for if not held).
Be prepared to undertake specialist onsite training relevant to role.
Able to undertake the removal, installation, repair and maintenance of reactor systems and equipment on board submarines or in dedicated workshop facilities.
Ability to overhaul and install a variety of mechanical equipment associated with submarine reactor systems which could include fluid systems (water, steam HP/LP air, hydraulics), lighting, air conditioning, valves, pipework, pumps, motors, etc.
Set to work where applicable using approved test procedures and test equipment.
Carry out system and equipment functional tests and surveys.
Work to engineering drawings, technical specifications and procedures.
Competent in the use of general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role.
NB - The role generally requires shift working which attracts a premium on top of basic salary There are also additional payments for working within radiation areas.

Experience:


We are particularly interested in candidates who have relevant nuclear experience either directly with submarine reactor systems and equipment or within the nuclear power generation industry.

Qualifications:


Indentured Apprenticeship or Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
OR
Armed Forces PO/CPO/NCO with a mechanical specialisation.
