Lead Planner - Permanent role based in Cheshire

We are looking for experienced planner, with relevant industry experienced who can develop and manage the company's planning strategy and operations in order to deliver an optimised 6 week ahead (or subsequent multiple thereof) plan taking into account all demand requirements and supply constraints.
Responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers, products and supply configuration.


Principal accountabilities



  • Forecasting
  • Review and monitor TCE/ BSL forecasting model ensuring that demand forecast and supply plans are correctly represented in the 6 week rolling plan, conflicts are successfully resolved or escalated through the Monthly S&OP process.
  • Develop and approve the Rolling 6 week plan aligned with Sales Forecasts, Marketing promotions, Production plans (inc. capacity constraints) and Financial Budgets Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to planning processes and forecasting accuracy
  • Report periodically to Supply Chain stakeholders with key forecasting and stock updates.
  • Optimisation of finished goods inventory levels safety and target stock levels based on improving plan accuracy
  • Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions
  • Actively engage with peers to improve processes and methodologies
  • Analyse SKU profiles by category and review of proliferation for opportunities to rationalize and simplify Manage product discontinuations (end of life management and stock depletion)
  • Stock monitoring and maintenance (according to customer requirements / based on lead-time and forecast)
  • Identify process bottleneck and implement solutions in a timely manner
  • Train and evaluate others
  • Set up necessary process to provide proactive ongoing management and performance measurement against SLA's and KPI's
  • Promote Central Supply Chain Function within Company Be aware of Supply Chain colleagues roles and responsibilities and be able to cover key tasks in their absence if necessary

Knowledge, skills & experience

- Degree level education, probably in a business-related subject.
- Proven work experience as a Lead Planner/ Demand Planning Manager in a relevant industry
- Proven experience of change management and strong implementation skills
- Ability to articulate a big picture vision and break it down into deliverable elements.
- Ability to work on own initiative and drive required behaviours, mentoring and developing people of potential.
- Experience of contributing to S&OP process and standardisation of methodologies
- Consistent and top performing delivery of OTIF and Fill rate metrics
- Experience of optimisation of inventory levels per required fill rates and variability in Sales forecast
