Our client, a leading Power/Renewables company are seeking a Lead Commissioning Engineer for a long term contract role based in South Lanarkshire.

Lead and coordinate activities that will achieve the safe and effective commissioning of apparatus and systems for transmission substation, overhead line and cabling projects.

Accountability & Statements

* Responsible for ensuring projects (substation apparatus, overhead lines, underground cables, transformer replacements etc.) are commissioned according to UK and international standards, client standards and client Projects standards
* Prepare commissioning contract specifications, commissioning procedures, tests to be performed and monitor/supervise commissioning works. Resolve technical or commercial disputes that may arise during the works
* Manage electrical and other staff, from internal teams and external suppliers, to achieve commissioning objectives and maintain project timelines. Lead internal and external commissioning meetings and liaise with equipment manufacturers
* Deliver commissioning site works in accordance with engineering and construction, quality and environmental processes and procedures. Minimise non-conformances or resolve within specified timescales
* Ensure that systems are in place to document all commissioning activities and to ensure that records and information are presented to the relevant internal and external parties
* Comply and operate to the highest standard with regards to Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations
* Provide technical support, advice and instructions (related to your discipline area) to various internal departments and to external contractors and suppliers
* Work to continualy improve the project commissioning process
* Work with a high degree of autonomy and in a team consisting of project management, design, commercial, civil, electrical, safety, quality and environmental staff and incorporating external contractors and suppliers.

Dimensions

* Management of commissioning activities in support of technically complex and business critical projects.
* Mentor and support the Commissioning Engineers and new starts.

* Management of commissioning on a portfolio of projects, that will be assigned to you, that will include a range of projects from small protection only schemes to major construction projects with spend exceeding £20m
* Portfolio may consist of projects from a number of different Project Units.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

* Engineering degree or equivalent experience
* Proven, significant experience in the commissioning of Transmission System substations, overhead lines and cabling systems.
* Authoritative knowledge on electrical commissioning standards and best practice. Experience regarding both electrical systems and protection systems.
* Knowledge of Transmission Operator, REC or DNO technical compliance requirements
* Knowledge of the BETTA / STCP process is required
* A broad understanding of client and the market the business operates within
* CDM experience
* CCNSG / CSCS Supervisor Passport
* IOSH Managing Safely (or similar)
* Contract Management (FIDIC, NEC3 etc.)
* Skilled in the use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, document management and programme management packages
* First Aid at work
* Scottish Power Authorisations

Important Criteria:

* Proven, significant experience in the commissioning of Transmission System substations, overhead lines and cabling systems.
* Authoritative knowledge on electrical commissioning standards and best practice. Experience regarding both electrical systems and protection systems.
* Knowledge of Transmission Operator, REC or DNO technical compliance requirements
