Landing Gear ATA32 Engineer - Gears Mechanical Design

The A320/A330 Landing Gear Serial Programmes (ILB) are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Engineer to primarily work on Landing Gear ATA32 Engineer at Airbus in Filton. This position is in the A320/A330 Continuous Product Development (CPD) team. The CPD team activities include all structural and systems activities linked to the continuous product development of ATA32 Systems and Equipment. These activities include investigation of in-service events, root-cause assessments, definition of appropriate, robust solutions, and managing modifications.
As an ATA32 Engineer, you will report functionally to the Head of A320/A330 CPD. This position is managing the development and integration of ATA32 gears mechanical design activities. You will be working with other ATA32 Engineers, Level 1 signatories and Landing Gear vendors to ensure the development of technical solutions integrated with ATA32 and other Aircraft ATA chapters.

As member of the ILB team you will
- Contribute to maintain the positive working environment of ILB.
- Contribute to the delivery of ILB Objectives.
- Actively participate in cross-ILB activities, including sharing of lessons learnt.

The main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- ATA32 gears mechanical design activities to meet the necessary Safety, Time/Cost/Quality standards. Delivering in line with commitments, and reporting progress through the ATA32 Gears team leader and Head of A320/A330 CPD.
- Ensuring that the delivery of each activity meets the technical need, following the appropriate processes and procedures, demonstrating strong requirement adherence and Validation and Verification.
- Managing and co-ordinating ATA32 Design Reviews including Process Assurance.
- Proactively problem-solve issues and to maintain or improve the maturity of the product.
- Supporting internal resource management and offload of activities to sub-contract suppliers.
- Interfacing with Chief Engineering and Customer Service teams at the relevant technical reviews.
- Interfacing with the Systems DCS and technical signatories to ensure compliance to certification requirements and methodology.
- Supporting adherence to budget and schedule for each activity, managing and mitigating risks/opportunities and communicating in a timely manner.
- Agreeing the task priority with the Gears team leader, Head of CPD, Engineering Programme Manager (EPM), and Chief Engineering team.
- Ensuring strong links with all stakeholders, including experts and specialists, Vendors, Procurement, Customer Services, FAL as required communicating task progress and realistic commitments.

We are looking for the ideal candidate to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
- A strong background in Engineering, systems and equipment design.
- Educated to a 4 year degree level in Engineering or a related discipline.
- A proven track record of task management, delivering to Time, Cost and Quality.
- Experience in stakeholder management & leading project teams.
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written English.
