Morson are looking for a person to work as a laboratory assistant in a Quality Assurance Laboratory.
The role will be to support the Laboratory Manager and the Laboratory Chemists in their day to day jobs of undertaking chemical analysis for Quality Assurance and Engineering Development, and enable the efficient running of the laboratory by undertaking the following tasks.
Undertaking the start-up and close-down procedures at the start and end of the day. This will involve key-holding, opening the building, switching specified equipment on at the start, and switching equipment off and securing the building at the end of the day.
Keeping the Laboratory clean to a specified daily routine. Floor washing and cleaning / sweeping Cleaning and tidying of work stations Cleaning Glassware and ensuring that sufficient glassware is available to support testing General tidying duties to ensure that the laboratory areas are safe and working hazards are minimised. Cleaning of equipment to minimise the risk of cross contamination of chemicals and energetic materials.
The preparation of energetic and non-energetic material samples to ready them for analysis, using approved process and tooling.
Disposal of waste through the correct waste stream in accordance with approved processes. Keeping the waste area tidy, and ensuring waste explosive limits are not exceeded.
Transfer of chemicals from the chemical store as required to support their use by the chemists, and the replacement of unused chemicals and materials into the store.
Maintenance of samples, including receipt, storage, delivery to chemists and disposal of waste, including record keeping.
Mixing of simple adhesives and varnishes in accordance with approved processes.
Moving equipment as required to enable it to be in position for the chemists to use.
Undertake any other tasks as required by the Laboratory Manager to support the effective running of the Laboratory.
In view of the need for high safety and quality requirements, due to the nature and hazards of the materials under test, there is a requirement to work within the approved process methods in use within the laboratory at all times.
