Infrastructure Engineer


Morson are recruiting for an Infrastructure Engineer join our client in London, England.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable for ensuring technical services are delivered and maintained and that they meet performance objectives using approved processes and tools. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the state of the technical environment using monitoring and reporting tools, rectifying any operations that are running outside of their normal state. Ensure all HW, SW and service configuration elements are recorded correctly.
  • Accountable for ensuring that delivered activities are fully compliant and updated with all of our clients processes in respect of the ITIL framework and functions and security practices within the scope of the supported estate.
  • Contribute to the design of and plan technical changes; deliver and test infrastructure technologies. Identify and deliver potential areas of improvement to technology or process. Engage with stakeholders where appropriate including release schedules and ensuring that sufficient advance notification is given to enable the business to make budgetary provision for decisions regarding capacity issues, availability issues or end of life equipment and systems
  • Identify and deliver potential areas of improvement to technology or process, ensuring either new or edited work instructions for tasks in technical area enabling all work is completed to these standards.
  • Contribute to the design of and plan technical changes; deliver and test infrastructure technologies. Identify and deliver potential areas of improvement to technology or process. Engage with stakeholders where appropriate including release schedules and ensuring that sufficient advance notification is given to enable the business to make budgetary provision for decisions regarding capacity issues, availability issues or end of life equipment and systems
  • Ensure appropriate knowledge transfer between our clients suppliers and suppliers to provide an overall high quality of service. Establish methods to ensure safeguards against non-compliance of standards to ensure only supportable environments are transitioned into the live estate

Knowledge

  • A Degree in a relevant technology/computer science subject/equivalent technical qualification plus sound on the job experience of the platform specialism or equivalent extensive on-the job experience in IT infrastructure and in the particular platform specialism;
  • Strong knowledge of the latest and emerging technologies likely to be employed in designing and delivering Enterprise Wide quality solutions in the chosen platform;
  • Strong knowledge of technical techniques in the following:- IT Infrastructure Technologies, System Security, Acceptance Testing - including operational, user, functionality and others as required;
  • The relevant national and international legislation pertaining to the Government/Public Sector IT - e.g. Data Protection Act, EU Procurement Directives and Freedom of Information Act; and
  • The position each role relates to is subject to a specific technical specialism matrix which describes the relevant technologies and skill levels required to perform at the required level

Skills

  • Skilled at solving and communicating problems, applying knowledge and technology to the full;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Communicates all needs, instructions and decisions clearly. Adapts the style of communication to meet the needs of the audience. Checks for understanding; and
  • Proficient in risk management methods and techniques for the assessment and management of business risk;

Experience

  • Has worked within the industry in a role reporting to manager level and working with business managers to enable business benefit through service delivery;
  • Previous experience as an IT Engineer;
  • Recent experience in the latest techniques and methodologies in delivering quality solutions;
  • Experienced in implementing, designing or supporting infrastructure as per the technical matrix; and
  • Proven experience of developing a customer-focused service culture and enabling people development towards this objective for junior colleagues.
