Role Overview

Human factors input to workspace design and work station design, anthropometry, HCI development and assessment, HMI development and assessment, Manning development, Procedural design, Human Reliability Analysis. Use of a range of Human Factors techniques including task analysis, user trials etc.

Tasks/Responsibilities

This role calls for the successful candidate to undertake Human Factors work to ensure it is incorporated into Submarine related projects, responsibilities could include:

  • Task and workload analysis
  • Human Reliability Analysis
  • Review of workspace / workstation design and application of anthropometric data
  • Assessment of design in relation to crew wellbeing and habitability
  • Human Machine Interface / Human Computer Interface development
  • Manpower and Target Audience Description development
  • HF attendance / support to Hazard Identification (HAZID)
  • HF input to Design Reviews
  • Looking for candidates with some or all of the following:
  • Proven ability of working in the human factors discipline, proven ability of working in the nuclear or maritime industries desirable but not essential

Skills /Proven Ability

  • Proven ability of Conducting various Human Factors analysis and user trial assessments, working alongside subject matter experts, including current and ex-RN submariners
  • Proven ability of Producing Human Factors reports
  • Knowledge of Human Factors in nuclear and/or other high hazard industry safety cases would be ideal
  • Proven ability of Hazard ID
  • Proven ability in conducting Human Reliability Analysis and detailed human error assessments
  • Proven ability of supporting a large design project to integrate HF
