Human Factors Engineer

Contract 12 Months

Location: Barrow in Furness

Pay Rate: £60.00 Ltd per hour

Role Overview

Human factors input to workspace design and work station design, anthropometry, HCI development and assessment, HMI development and assessment, Manning development, Procedural design, Human Reliability Analysis. Use of a range of Human Factors techniques including; task analysis, user trials etc.

The role calls for the successful candidate to undertake Human Factors work to ensure it is incorporated into Submarine related projects, responsibilities could include:

  • Task and workload analysis
  • Human Reliability Analysis
  • Review of workspace / workstation design and application of anthropometric data
  • Assessment of design in relation to crew wellbeing and habitability
  • Human Machine Interface / Human Computer Interface development
  • Manpower and Target Audience Description development
  • HF attendance / support to Hazard Identification (HAZID)
  • HF input to Design Reviews

The Individual

Proven ability of working in the human factors discipline, proven ability of working in the nuclear or maritime industries desirable but not essential.Looking for candidates with some or all of the following:

  • Proven ability of Conducting various Human Factors analysis and user trial assessments, working alongside subject matter experts, including current and ex-RN submariners
  • Proven ability of Producing Human Factors reports
  • Knowledge of Human Factors in nuclear and/or other high hazard industry safety cases would be ideal
  • Proven ability of Hazard ID
  • Proven ability in conducting Human Reliability Analysis and detailed human error assessments
  • Proven ability of supporting a large design project to integrate HF
  • Proven ability of informing design decisions
