Job Title: Health, Safety and Environmental Controller
SECTION 1 - JOB PURPOSE
1.1 Wildcat Maintenance Support (WMS) Health, Safety & Environmental Controller
SECTION 2 - MAIN ACTIVITIES AND TASKS
2.1 Appointed as the WMS Health, Safety and Environmental Controller (HSE) with responsibility for all HSE functions specified in WMS Operating Procedures (OP).
2.2 Responsible for ensuring that all HSE measures meet statutory requirements as well as Company and Authority requirements ensuring OHSAS 18001 compliance.
2.3 Advising the management of any risks or conflicting requirements.
2.4 Control and implement HSE Risk Assessment programmes including the co-ordination of measures to minimise identified risks.
2.5 Carry out Quarterly HSE Audits on WMS, compiling and distributing the WMS HSE Objectives and Departmental Safety Plan.
2.6 Report all accidents and incidents and carry out any investigations as required.
2.7 Carry out Internal HSE Audits and control the Health and Safety documentation keeping records of all HSE related Accidents, Incidents and Occurrences.
2.8 Control environmental standards and procedures within WMS, to meet the Air Station Environmental Policy.
2.9 Control Training for WMS personnel nominated for HSE responsibilities. Liaise with the organisation for Initial, Continuation and Refresher Training as necessary.
2.10 Ensure that all WMS personnel have access to advice and information on all HSE matters and that constant publicity is given to this subject.
2.11 Briefing all new WMS employees and visitors on the Health and Safety measures in force. All new employees are to receive an on-site induction brief. Records are to be retained in their Personal Competency Folders.
2.12 Ensuring that all HSE issues are correctly raised to the WSQRM for presentation at the weekly Engineering Management Meeting.
2.13 Provide reasonable support to other Support Service positions during times of absence due to holidays etc. and peak activity periods.
SECTION 3 - KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
3.1 Minimum 3 years' experience as a SNCO or civilian equivalent.
3.2 NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health.
3.3 Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident, effective approach to personal communications.
3.4 Demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, diligence and maintain a tenacious commitment to high Standards.
3.5 Ability to communicate confidently with Senior Management, customers and staff by effectively expressing ideas and information clearly and concisely in both verbal and visual form.
