We have an excellent opportunity for a HEALTH PHYSICS / RADIATION PROTECTION ADVISOR with our Client within the nuclear industry based in Preston.
Provision of radiological protection advice to the business to ensure compliance with the ionising radiation regulations in respect to ongoing and proposed future operations.
Evaluation of operational activities and the undertaking of radiological risk assessments as well as providing guidance on implementation of safety arrangements and controls.
The successful Candidate will be responsible for the day to day activities of radiological support to operations, capturing a range of assurance activities of plant inspections and audits along with the monitoring and trending of plant performance data, authoring and revision of radiological procedures and oversight of dosimetry arrangements.
Monitoring & trending of metrics
Scheduling and review of contamination surveys
Regular monitoring of facility discharges
Review and tracking of operational doses, management of issued dosimetry and production of dose performance reports to management
Review of in-vitro/in-vivo radiometric data and scheduling of assays
Assurance activities with respect to calibrations of RPI/sources/monitoring systems
Production of routine radiological assessments, and written systems of work
Provision of radiological protection training
Undertaking of radiological review of plant performance, undertaking of plant walkdowns and audits
Calculation of RPI response to fingerprints
Authoring and revision of radiological procedures
Approving clearances and waste sentencing memoranda
Provision of operational advice
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) or Health Physicist (HP) or other suitable qualifications in Radiation Protection
Experience of working in the nuclear industry
