CORPORATE
Our Corporate business is responsible for providing support services for all other ScottishPower businesses.

The Health and Safety Team provides business wide leadership, strategy and direction integrating business and group Health & Safety policies, programs and processes in support of operational excellence, legal compliance and safe working practices.

Reporting to the Health & Safety (Operations) Manager the main purpose of the role is to support the development of the Health and Safety management system through the delivery of projects identified and agreed in the Health and Safety operating plan. The overall aim is to achieve world class performance levels working in partnership with employees, contractors, customers and members of the public.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
To establish, monitor and control a safe working environment within the area where the post holder is responsible
Provide professional leadership and direction to Senior Management, International Standards Champions and Coordinators across the Business.
Lead and deliver projects and programs to meet operating objectives within performance metrics and agreed deliverables
Develop and manage projects in collaboration with Procurement and Business stakeholders
Manage H&S budget allocated to the delivery of projects, monitoring progress against the plan whilst remaining within budget
Lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders
Audit contractors to ensure they have an effective internal audit processes in place.
Be fully conversant with the Electrical Mechanical Safety Rules and supporting documentation.
Assist the team in the application of the Authorisation processes conducting Authorisation interviews as required.
Develop opportunities for best-practice exchanges including regular facilitation of workshops and meetings.
Be responsible for the promotion, development and review of projects which support the delivery of the health and safety policy and strategy.
Provide high quality technical audit reports in a credible and objective way.

DIMENSIONS
Projects and initiatives leading to the matrix management of up to 8 people from across the Regulated and Corporate ScottishPower business.
Delivering projects within agreed performance parameters
Provision of advice and professional guidance to senior managers across the Business
Liaison with external and internal technical specialists as appropriate.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Educated to HNC level or significant compensatory business experience
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and experience of business systems (SAP)
Well developed and practiced negotiation, communication, presentation and inter-personal management skills
Be fully conversant with the Electrical Mechanical Safety Rules and supporting documentation
Experience of the Authorisation processes conducting Authorisation interviews.
A clear understanding of the whole value chain and the key processes within each business.
Knowledge and experience of project management
Ability to operate and positively influence at all levels in the organisation and with external stakeholders.
Ability to devise practical solutions to complex and risk based problems or challenges.

MINIMUM CRITERIA
Educated to HNC level or significant compensatory business experience
Fully conversant with the Electrical Mechanical Safety Rules and supporting documentation
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S experience.
Experience in project management with multiple stakeholders
Well developed and practiced negotiation, communication, presentation and inter-personal management skills
Able to travel to fulfil responsibilities of role
