As a Health and Safety Advisor you will provide support, advice and expertise on SHE technical and legislative matters. Ensure that the business meets the requirements of SHE legislation, regulation and guidance, including the requirements of the clients management systems.
Provide expertise and advice on SHE matters to the Asset Teams to comply with legislative requirements and clients standards and policies.
Review and approve contractor risk assessments, ensure they cover all risks and have adequate control measures to execute the work safely.
Inspect work sites, reporting findings to the Team, take action as required to address SHE issues, and ensure the work is executed safely.
Apply local SHE systems and procedures to satisfy legislative requirements and meet business goals for SHE.
Monitor the SHE performance of contractors, take action as required to address issues, and make recommendations to the Team to improve contractor SHE performance.
Participate in investigations into SHE incidents, providing SHE expertise to identify root cause and make recommendations to prevent re-occurrence
Monitor SHE Key Performance Indicators to identify and drive improvements to meet business goals for SHE.
Create, develop, deliver SHE Related training including Plant Inductions
Creation of tool box talks, weekly focus materials and development of improvement initiatives
Participate and creation of Task Based Risk Assessments
Lead SHE Meetings
The SHE Advisor interfaces with Contracts Coordinators and Asset Teams.
Key 3rd party interfaces are with 10 main construction contractor companies and up to 30-40 additional contractor companies.
The SHE Advisor must build strong working relationships with key people in the organization, and with 3rd party contractors.

Qualifications, knowledge and skills
Degree level qualification in a relevant science or engineering discipline is desirable
Appropriate professional HS&E qualifications (minimum NEBOSH) and be working towards corporate membership of appropriate institutions such as IOSH is essential
5 years plus working in SHE environment
Good working knowledge of SHE standards
A track record in effective consultation and co-operation to develop a pro-active partnership approach to SHE
Ability to manage several issues simultaneously and prioritize time accordingly
Ability to react quickly and work to tight deadlines
Self-directed with strong organisational skills and methodical approach to provide practical solutions to complex issues
Excellent communications and inter-personal skills with the ability to present technical and complex concepts to a wide audience
