Head of Quality - Permanent position based Northwich

Job purpose statement:
We have an exciting vacancy for a Head of Quality who will set and lead the Quality strategy for Tata Chemicals Europe, thereby ensuring that the quality management system (QMS) is effective, that all required accreditations are achieved/maintained and that QA/QC performance satisfies current and future customer expectations for all products and sites.

Reporting to Director of Sales & Marketing, this is a strategically important role and under your leadership of a small team, you will strive to deliver an exemplary service to your internal and external customers.
Your commitment to high standards of compliance is of paramount importance, however, we require more than this - we are looking for someone who will work in partnership with our manufacturing plants, empathetic to their challenges whilst challenging them to uphold the highest standards, so a passion for manufacturing is essential.

To manage a team comprising of two Quality Professionals and site based QC/ Laboratory Analysts, ensuring their objectives and KPIs are aligned with the company strategy.
To ensure the QMS meets all standards and is effectively deployed throughout the organisation.
To ensure compliance with the requirements of all relevant quality standards for which certification is required (e.g. ISO9001, GMP-ICHQ7, BRC, FEMAS etc). and that certification/ registration is achieved and maintained across our entire product range.
To plan and co-ordinate the quality audit programme, taking the lead in external audits (both regulatory and customer) and that internal/ supplier audit schedules are effectively deployed.
To provide support, guidance and training on matters relating to QA, QC and compliance to stakeholders within the organisation, including operations teams, engineering, sales and marketing and procurement.
To take the lead role on investigations into quality critical events such as customer complaints, deviations, recalls/withdrawals and audit findings, working closely with manufacturing/engineering/commercial teams to identify and correct issues.
To develop KPIs, systems and processes to report and act on quality performance trends. Analyse and benchmark performance to identify areas for improvement in line with business priorities.
Required knowledge and experience
Have knowledge of managing to pharmaceutical (preferable) or food standards, such as GMP (ICHQ7) and BRC/ ISO 22000.
You are likely to be a Graduate in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline.
An experienced and engaging people manager, used to managing quality and laboratory roles across multiple locations.
Have gained relevant experience within a manufacturing environment.
Be externally certified and have experience of being a Lead Auditor.
Have effective data analysis and IT skills.
Be a great communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
