Role: Head of Operational Health and Safety - Hinkley Point 'C' (HPC) nuclear new build project
Location: HPC site near Bridgwater, Somerset
Salary / benefits: Up to c£90000 along with outstanding benefits including £7k car allowance, 10% bonus, career-average pension, 25 days holiday, healthcare and relocation assistance
Work Pattern: Monday - Friday position (not weekends)
Start: ASAP, though happy to accept appropriate notice period for the right candidate
Our client, a key end-client at the forefront of the UK nuclear industry, is looking for a Senior Health and Safety professional with a strong background on large construction industry projects (ideally regulated industry) to work as Head of Operational Health and Safety in support of their Hinkley Point 'C' (HPC) nuclear power station construction project.
This is a key role within the HPC site management team and will be based at the HPC site near Bridgwater, Somerset
The person will be '...responsible for ensuring the NNB Genco health and safety team are liaising with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, Construction Leads and Tier 1 Contractor teams to ensure that all legislative, company and site specific safety requirements have been considered and addressed.....
....The post holder is responsible for the provision of health and safety leadership and guidance to the Site Command Centre - consistent with HPC, NNB and EDF Energy policies. In doing so, they will liaise with HPC Site Occupational Health and Environmental teams and assist the Head of Site Health, Safety and Environment with regulatory interface.... '
Suitable candidates will need experience of work on large construction industry projects. Nuclear experience would be useful but is not essential, with other regulated industry project experience also highly regarded
Work will largely be largely focused on M&E works, so a background in that discipline would be ideal, though other backgrounds (e.g. Civil) will be happily considered
Correct candidate will be calm, easy going with a real drive to succeed and an ability to communicate comfortably and confidently at very senior / director level
Will manage a team of 25-30 initially, which will expand significantly from Jan 2021
Extensive relevant experience is required for the role, though the client is happy to consider someone looking to take a step up in their career
Client stresses that this will be a Monday - Friday position, with other management staff available to cover at weekends
Excellent knowledge of, and qualifications in CDM and NEBOSH essential
