Head of Finance
As a member of the Senior Management Team, the post holder will manage the Finance Team to ensure robust and accurate recording of all financial information within the charity and be the responsible person within the charity for the IT systems and infrastructure.
The Finance Department has a primary responsibility to protect the assets of the business through the maintenance and development of a systematic process for financial control and review. The Head of Finance will provide the lead in the production and development of management and financial accounting and reporting and will provide guidance and advice on all operational finance matters to colleagues across the organisation.
This role is responsible for the creation and implementation of all financial policies, processes and procedures as required by the charity. This includes procurement and the wider group ownership, review and development of the charity's procurement policy and adherence to it.
The post holder will develop existing financial systems and implement new systems.
* Financial / Management Accounting
Prepares the management accounts, with the assistance of the Finance Team and seeks to implement a best practice approach for financial accounting controls.
Manages financial processes to ensure strong cash flow and timely management reporting.
Meets and exceeds internal customer requirements as the business champion for new financial systems introduced into the business and drives the development of existing ones.
* Team Management / Leadership
Recruits, develops and motivates the Finance Team to achieve its objectives and departmental purpose.
* Financial Policies & Procedures
Ensures the framework of financial policies and procedures as outlined by the CEO, are implemented, documented and become part of the core work of the Finance Department.
* Responsible for effective procurement policies and procedures used across the business
Raise the profile of the Finance Department through the provision of a service that meets the needs of all stakeholders. As a member of the Senior Management team, be able to influence colleagues when introducing new ideas, processes and systems that support the aims and objectives of the charity. Liaise with key external stakeholders including the bank and external auditors.
As Head of Department, the post holder will communicate effectively throughout the organisation, actively participating in relevant forums including with Trustees and in cross-departmental working groups.
You will need to be a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or equivalent and ideally familiar with charity accounting. experience of SAGE 50 would be advantagous
