We are working with one of our key clients to secure a Head of Commercial for an approx 2 year contract opportunity based at Faslane.

Job Purpose:

Head of Commercial and Procurement is accountable for the commercial leadership, management, organisation, systems, processes and capabilities to enable PSP(N) to meet its contractual deliverables, from the commercial and performance milestone base whilst meeting contractual and regulatory requirements. To exploit PSP capabilities and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). To develop and implement an innovative, growth focused commercial strategy, focusing primarily on the Project to ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated and that commercial success is achieved


Demonstrate commitment to leadership commitment to safety and security, delivering financial and programme efficiency and performance
Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategy for the FNICAP and Clyde Commercial Framework business.
Ensuring that regular reviews are carried out with the Project Teams, to ensure that their needs are being met and that excellent customer service is achieved and, developing future improvements/services for the Stakeholders/Customers.
Assess the risks to the business of any new commercial opportunities.
Developing and maintaining an excellent understanding of the key customerr /target audience both internal and external to ensure that their needs and business objectives are being met.
Ensuring that all commercial activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume and efficiency targets (Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)) in line with business objectives.
Identify and encourage continual improvement and innovation such that the department is recognised for developing and applying best practice
Representing the company externally e.g. at networking events, conferences and exhibitions to enhance and strengthen the company profile and optimise all business development opportunities.

Provide Commercial leadership, policy and guidance across PSP(N) supporting collaborative working across the organisation, ensuring a cohesive approach that supports the achievement of business goals
Agree processes and procedures in conjunction with Project Managers / Project Engineers, Legal, Procurement, Bid team, Finance, Major Projects Stakeholders
Influence contractual discussions, negotiations and strategic sourcing decisions with both internal and external customers

Define, mitigate and manage commercial risk for the Framework
Key member of the Leadership team, providing clear communication and direction on business vision across the project.
Engage, motivate and develop the Commercial and Procurement team providing clear direction and career opportunities in line with agreed performance objectives.
Work effectively with others, (projects, functions, customers and key stakeholders), building required relationships and interfaces within the programme, ensuring the delivery of value
Leads and drives agility throughout the team ensuring that the business is able to respond and adapt to changes and better ways of working across the programme
Provide commercial guidance to the Executive team, functions, programme and projects on specific commercial and procurement issues
Ensure that functional metrics, procedures, processes and systems are developed, implemented, adhered to and of a quality that delivers against our programme requirements
Provide leadership to the integration activity to enable the creation of potential solutions to be marketed either proactively or as a response to a customer need
Provide strategic advice and input to evolve and optimise the utilisation and potential of the skills and capabilities within the organisation
Developing and implementing strategies for engaging with the supply chain.
Ensure UK contracting, NEC4, contract law and pricing principles are included in the tendering and bidding process
Effective administration and governance of large multi-discipline contracts with the supply chain including pre-contract engagement are executed Lead the developing and implementation of dispute avoidance strategies.
Ensure implementation of general legal and contractual awareness is cascaded to the Project teams and across the Framework through workshop events.
