Job Description:

This vacancy is for a Hardware Systems Engineer on the Aircrew Training & Simulation Systems (ATSS) Hardware Development & In-Service Support Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in in the early stages of the engineering lifecycle, device delivery and product acceptance by the customer.

The Air MS&TS Air Service Aircrew Training & Simulation Solutions (ATSS) team is responsible for the development and delivery of customer Typhoon training devices. These customers include the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the expanding Typhoon export market which currently includes Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar with the potential to include a number of other customers worldwide.

You will be involved in training device specification, early design, integration, testing, installation and acceptance of Typhoon aircrew and groundcrew training devices. Modification and upgrades to existing Typhoon training devices is also a responsibility of the Systems Design & Integration team. These may be due to updates to the aircraft systems or obsolescence of existing equipment.

You will be a member of ATSS responsible for the development of hardware associated with Typhoon training devices based predominantly on Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) equipment working across a range of equipment and products.

key Responsibilities:

As a member of the Hardware Design & Integration Team you will be involved to varying degrees in the following:

Training devices system and sub system design.
Production of Acceptance Test Manuals
Specifying facilities required at the customer site
The integration of training device sub systems including computer and visual systems
Installation and testing of training devices initially on site and then at the customers site
Participation in acceptance testing with the end customer
Working with internal and external suppliers
Design of systems and subsystems utilising PCs and networking and other Commercial Off The Shelf hardware
Production of engineering drawings and technical documentation

Knowledge of synthetic training systems.
Understanding of configuration management.
Understanding of requirements management.
Willing to travel to Europe, the Middle East and the UK.
Good team player.
Able to work on own initiative.

The candidate must have excellent Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint skills and good with Excel, Project and Outlook
