We are looking for a GIS WEB DEVELOPER and SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR based in Cumbria for an ongoing nuclear project

The successful candidate will provide technical solutions and bespoke web applications development.

They will develop and enhance the capability of web mapping applications based on an ESRI Enterprise stack (ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online)


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Design, develop, test, document, deploy and support web mapping functionality and supporting components using ESRI ArcGIS JavaScript API and Portal for ArcGIS

Assist with system solutions and frameworks to enable custom application delivery

Act as trouble-shooter to web map development queries from the Maps team

Completion of service delivery activities to time and quality

Ensuring documentation is up to date and complete in line with the company Quality Management System

Effective communication with local team and clients

Database configuration and management tasks

Input to the scoping out of technical solutions for clients

Input to the writing of technical documents


AUTHORITIES & DIMENSIONS

To work with the Geospatial Capability Manager, Infrastructure and Data Lead and Lead Developer to design appropriate solutions

To participate in technical review


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential Skills

ArcGIS Server administration or server administration experience

Testing and version control experience

Analytical and problem solving skills

Good levels of communication and skills to work as part of a team to produce a technical solution

A good understanding of code architecture

SQL Server experience

Typically has around 6 years of IT work experience in software development, installation and modification

Have or be prepared to undertake SC security clearance


DESIRABLE SKILLS

Degree or postgraduate qualification in a GIS or IT-related subject or relevant work based experience

Demonstrable ability to develop efficient, highly optimised and clear documented code

JavaScript web mapping experience, e.g. ESRI JavaScript API, OpenLayers, Leaflet, MapBox

Data workflow, process design and implementation experience requirements gathering, refining.

Familiarity with Windows Server (Preferably 2012 R2) and Microsoft SQL Server (preferably 2014) onwards

Professional experience of working with the ESRI software stack and ESRI JavaScript API

ArcGIS Server and Portal or Online solution development

Experience with ETL (extract, transform, load) software, ideally FME

ASP.net/C# development

Experience in HTML 5 development

Enterprise software development experience
