Financial Controller (Aerospace Manufacturing)

The hiring company is the premier forging company for the global aerospace and energy markets. Providing a specialized service, the company manufactures forged components from high grade titanium and nickel-based alloys. Such components are used for jet engines, including fan disks, compressor disks, turbine disks, and shafts. We also produce titanium and steel forgings for airframes, including wing beams, wing boxes, door and window frames, as well as nacelle and landing gear components. The company also extrudes steel products for use in power plants and oil and gas industry applications. Our reputation, market position, and operational efficiency are reliant upon our demonstrated ability to continually improve.
Business Unit Profile:
The business is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability.
Responsible for general management of the Business Unit including new business development, technology and intellectual property development, and ongoing operations. This position is responsible for meeting all financial metrics (P&L) while meeting safety, quality, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction goals. Revenue of this business is approximately $60 million.
Directs business leadership team comprised of Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Quality, Human Resources, Finance, EH&S personnel and manages daily operations to achieve company goals and objectives.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The Controller is responsible for all financial aspects of the business and must ensure compliance with all company Corporate Policies and Procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. The successful candidate will direct and coordinate the activities of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and other miscellaneous clerical functions of the department. The incumbent also applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare financial reports, and complete tax reporting requirements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares financial reports, budgets, cost reports and financial forecasts on a regular basis
Oversees the accounting staff
Mentoring staff for purposes of ensuring that their accounting and analysis duties are done well
Ensures that the financial records are accurate
Ensures that every expense is properly documented
Ensures that the books of accounts are compiled every end of the month and financial year
Ensures that there is fiscal responsibility within the plant's operations
Responsible for the budgetary control of plant
Corresponds with the senior management regarding any financial decisions that are made
Maintains general ledger and financial statements on an accurate and timely basis
Provides information to operating managers to support the day-to-day management of business.
Provides information to outside auditors for the completion of audits
Recommends prudent measures to reduce costs and/or increase revenues
Strong background in product cost Accounting (standard cost system) and experience in plant accounting/finance systems including strong understanding in the use of Excel.
GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge is required. Track record of improving internal controls highly valued.
Exceptional analytical abilities and understanding of accounting and finance issues in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and profitability and variance analysis.
A proactive, hands-on strategic thinker with solid problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation vs. simple reporting.
Experience presenting to highest levels of management with confidence and precision.
Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement.
Attention to detail and an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
Work requires verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

Experience & Education
The individual should have at least 7 to 10 years of similar business experience in a public company for a significant business unit, product line, or division generating at least $50 million on annual revenue.
The ideal candidate would have Master of Business Administration or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), with an emphasis on accounting or directly related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Have spent their career within the world of manufactured products where they developed a solid understanding of standard cost accounting, forecasting and planning, currency transactions SOX system and compliance, ERP management/systems expertise.
