Our client a leading Energy Provider are seeking x 2 Financial Accountants for approx 12 month contract positions.
Main Purpose of the Job
Key member of the Accounting Team who key responsibility will be working on ensuring actual entries are accurately included within the financial ledger in a timely manner. Work with other team members to ensure delivery of all the team's objectives.
Group Statutory Reporting Accounts
In line with group timeline and instructions, assist in the preparation all non-financial (e.g. not available directly from SAP/BPC) disclosures at a subsidiary account level
Subsidiary and Regulatory accounts
In line with group instructions and timelines, assist in the preparation of all additional disclosure/ segmentation information
Working with the business, prepare and post all manual accruals ensuring sufficient evidence is available and obtainable by group to validate the ledger values
Perform the monthly GRN review highlighting issues to the business
Perform the annual review of open GRN and Purchase Orders and with the Accounting Manager agree carry forward with business
Ensure the release of deferred income and rechargeable activity
Ensure costs are recorded to support regulatory reporting requirements
Perform the overhead recovery model process.
Perform month end accruals for Pexus, Scope and SAP Workflow
Perform any manual accounting entries required in relation to the relationship with IEC
Carry out detailed trial balance analysis at an FI company level, highlighting and resolving issues
Analyse fixed asset ledger and post appropriate adjustments
Challenge inappropriate business behaviours and ensure a strong environment of control exists across the wider business.
Continually challenge all key steps within supporting business processes, seeking to make improvements and enhancements where necessary
Support the Business Financial Accounting Manager as required, contributing to the overall responsibilities of the Business Control Team.
Continually challenge current business processes to seek and deliver ongoing efficiencies.
Promote a positive attitude to change and lead staff through the on-going change process.
Take part in cross-business and cross-functional projects and meetings to contribute to the overall achievement of objectives as required
Proactively manage relationships across Control and the Businesses
Have presence and confidence to interact as appropriate with all levels of senior management
Provide support to the wider Control team
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Qualified Accountant with experience of Financial/ Transactional disciplines
Strong analytical and accounting skills with a high degree of precision and accuracy
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
Spreadsheet modelling skills are essential
Confidence and ability to constructively challenge across Control function
Communicating effectively with staff at different levels of the organisation
Effective working style which engenders strong team spirit and fosters and promotes a positive working environment
Flexible working style
Working knowledge of relevant accounting systems
Special Requirements / Personal Qualities
Ability to manage the delivery of competing priorities against challenging timescales
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of Finance
Ability to assimilate complex commercial issues and determine the impact of relevant accounting standards
