EV Technical Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced individual to support our transition to a zero-emission fleet. The role will require high levels of EV technical expertise to ensure that our clients EVs and charging infrastructure meet our operational requirements and deliver best economic value. The role holder must be aware of relevant transport legislation and emerging zero-emission fleet technology, including home and workplace charging infrastructure.

Key Accountability's

-Work with operational teams to understand their existing and future operational
requirements.
-Complete a regular fleet review to identify EVs that meet operational requirements and deliver best total cost of ownership (TCO).
-Work with operational teams and members of the CVT to identify vehicles to be replaced with
EVs and help shape our EV transition plan.
-Identify the charging technology required to support this transition and build standard specifications. A blended approach between workplace and depot charging infrastructure will be required.
-Identify opportunities to rationalise the charging infrastructure required by fully understanding operational requirements and duty cycles, including shift patterns, dwell time and standby.
-Work with suppliers to prioritise / plan installation of charging infrastructure to support our transition.
-Developing site specific plans for our charging infrastructure, in order to ensure we get the right infrastructure first time i.e. number and type of charging points.
-Coordinate the installation of charging infrastructure with our clients capital programme, to realise opportunities to reduce costs.
-Manage the EV infrastructure suppliers to ensure installations meet agreed specification and are delivered to time, cost and quality.
-Perform quality checks and tests to ensure infrastructure is operating as designed and any issues identified are managed quickly and efficiently.
-Work with other members of the CVT to identify information and reporting requirements from the charging points and work with suppliers to deliver.
-Work with suppliers to implement a home charging solution, to charge back the cost of electricity used to charge our clients commercial vehicles from home.

Essential Skills

-Proven experience of working with commercial fleet(s) to transition to EVs.
-Established relationships within the EV industry
-Knowledge and experience of EV and charging infrastructure technology.
-Experience in charging infrastructure design and installation.
-Must be an effective communicator (verbal, written) to manage internal and external stakeholders e.g. suppliers, operational teams etc.
-An understanding of the regulatory and legal obligations of commercial vehicle fleet operations.
-Must be able to use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), and be able to grasp new software applications.
-There will be a requirement to travel to meet suppliers and operational teams, therefore a driving licence and transport is essential.

Desirable Skills:
-Industry recognition for promoting transition to EVs
-Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence - Road Haulage.
-Experience working with fleets within the utilities sector, including vehicle specifications /
requirements e.g. on-board equipment / power requirements, towing etc.
