Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager, you will have hands-on experience of working within multi-disciplinary design and/or project engineering teams, project management techniques, and with the client in a collaborative and integrated manner. You will be required to support in the leadership of our projects with the oversight of Engineering Managers or Lead Project Engineers, with the aim of developing your skills to ultimately start leading multi-functional teams within projects of different disciplines and complexities yourself. Candidates must have strong technical capability and excellent communication, problem solving skills and be willing to take on new challenges.

Experience of working within the Network Rail and / or HS2 environments (or other similar major UK client organisation) specifically in the use of the client systems and processes will be advantageous.

This role would suit emerging professionals with engineering design experience, now seeking to develop their career within Engineering Management.

Duties:-

Working closely with the Engineering Manager or Lead Project Engineer, providing managerial and technical support to ensure successful integration, assurance and delivery of multi-disciplinary projects to meet client expectations.
Collating, analysing and communicating design, performance and safety requirements.
Supporting the management and oversight of the deployment, competence and development of staff.
Assisting in establishing robust processes and procedures to manage projects to support the Engineering Manager or Lead Project Engineer
Identifying, understanding and promulgating client needs and expectations throughout the team to ensure client satisfaction
Liaison with the project management team to support programme development and requirements.
Supporting the delivery of consistent outputs in line with the procedures including quality, health and safety, and risk management.

Qualifications/Skills:-

Have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
Are approaching (or have a plan for achieving) Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
Want to develop your skill sets to become an Engineering Lead / Manager
Have experience of multi-disciplinary projects within the context of a major client organisation or professional services provider.
Have an evolving knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and practices appropriate to the service delivery sector, e.g. HMRI Principles and Guidance, Railway Group Standards, Network Rail and LU Company Standards.
Have a customer-focused approach and are able to meet customer demand for sector knowledge and expertise.
Understand and use relevant project management principles, including risk and issue management, stakeholder management and change management.
Have an understanding of systems engineering and assurance.
Have experience of working directly with or for Network Rail, HS2, London Underground or other major UK transport organisation.
