Our Filton based client has a requirement for a Engineering Group Leader to undertake the below contract role.


Accountable for delivering all manufacturing engineering activities within the relevant area, for managing the performance of manufacturing engineers and processes and facilitating all engineering and quality issues.
Ensures that design intent is accurately converted in to clear manufacturing instructions, Manufacturing engineering and quality data set are accurate as well as integrity of bills of material and configuration control.

Strong people leadership skills are needed to deliver against performance objectives focused on continuous improvement and people development within the value stream.

* Manage employee relations working within the business procedures and ensure effective interface between management team and employees.
* Support Value Stream Manager in all manufacturing engineering and quality aspects and work with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Manager to identify and implement engineering best practice.
* Maintain flexibility to work on shift, in line with business needs.


Environment Health and Safety
Key Performance Indicator: Accident Frequency Rate (AFR)

*Ensure compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health and Safety procedures relevant to all work activities within the value stream - reporting all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the Company's procedure and implement identified corrective actions.
*Participate in all required risk assessments and Corrective Action Plans (CAP).
*Carry out health checks and local relevant safety tours in liaison with accountable building
*Seek the most environmentally responsible solution in all aspects of work.
* Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated areas.

Key Performance Indicator: Right First Time (RFT)

*Responsible for maximizing Right First Time performance of all manufacturing processes
within area of responsibility and initiate escalation procedure as required.
*Accountable for timely notification and responses to the Value Stream Manager/customer on non-conformances issues.
*Coordinate customer protection policy and initiate concession process as necessary.
*Ensure awareness and compliance with all quality systems and procedures and carry out
process confirmation identifying deviations and permanent resolutions.
*Facilitate MRB meetings, ensuring full attendance and adherence to relevant processes.
*Responsible for supporting all aspects of customer non-conformance both internal and external.
*Facilitate quality resolutions through 8D / A3 / A4 methodology ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
*Contribute to the timely closure of CAP's (Corrective Action Plan) and NCR's (Non-Conformance Report). Implement permanent corrective action plans ensuring timely closure of non-conformances.
*Assist in producing and maintaining Standard Work and WOW (Ways of Working) documents. Train operatives and sustain methodology.
*Ensure all phases/operations are fully confirmed prior to the release of parts from area.
*Responsible that all First Article inspection (FAI) carried out in the work area are done by the appropriate authorised person.
*Ensure adherence to Quality Policies and Procedures within the Value Stream.
*Ensure team uses appropriate handing media/part protection.


*Aircraft and manufacturing experience desirable.
*Aircraft apprenticeship / engineering degree would be an advantage.
*Understanding of engineering processes and system.
