Morson Talent are working in partnership with Thales Alenia Space (TAS) to recruit an experienced Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Engineer to be based in Harwell with the option of hybrid working.

Thales Alenia Space is a key player in space activities, in particular in the domain of telecommunication, navigation, Earth Observation, radar, orbital infrastructures for both civil
and military applications as well as for institutional or commercial customers and proposes a wide range of equipment and solutions.

EGSE is the non-flight electrical ground support equipment, used to control, test and validate a flight product, normally a satellite or an instrument, prior to it’s launch.

Primary Purpose of the Role:
TAS-UK are looking for an experienced individual to join their stimulating and fast-paced working environment in a role that reports to the EGSE Engineering Manager and is technically supported by a team of knowledgeable and experienced EGSE Engineers.

The successful candidate will work on a range of projects in varying stages of the project lifecycle, meaning they are likely to be responsible for EGSE design, specification, procurement, integration, commissioning and maintenance throughout their career with TAS-UK.

The position will be based at the TAS-UK Harwell office, with some opportunity for remote working.

Desired Skillset:
Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following disciplines is desired:
• Previous professional experience in EGSE design, specification and procurement
• Previous professional experience in EGSE integration, commissioning and maintenance
• Experience in Spacecraft AIT, or unit level testing, including the operation of a CCS and other EGSE
• Awareness of relevant ECSS/CCSDS Standards
• Knowledge of Satellite Reference Database (SRDB) in any format is desirable but not essential

Principal Relationships:
Internal Relationships
The successful candidate will be expected to have close working relationships with the following key roles:
• The project manager and work package manager, to define work packages and provide detailed feedback on task delivery
• Engineering teams across TAS to take inputs for interface and requirement specification definition and hold technical discussions
• Their own team in the EGSE Engineering group, to advise, and receive advice from their colleagues
• The EGSE Engineering Manager

External Relationships
• The successful candidate will interact with customers to provide feedback on integration activities and EGSE issues, and hold technical discussion where necessary
• The successful candidate will provide technical oversight on any EGSE deliveries from sub-contractors, for which they are responsible for

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following tasks and responsibilities
• Design and/or specify EGSE (i.e. Power, RF, CCS, TMTC) following the requirement engineering process and taking into account customer level requirements
• Communicate with suppliers during the EGSE procurement process, to evaluate proposals and answer technical queries, and attend the factory acceptance (FAT) where required
• Review suppliers documentation and RID generation during formal reviews (PDR/CDR)
• Produce EGSE documentation (design reports user manuals test procedures configuration management reports maintenance and spares plans)
• Perform Integration and Commissioning of the EGSE, before delivery to AIT
• Provide EGSE training to AIT teams
• Liaise with AIT to perform periodic maintenance and calibration of items with EGSE racks as required
• Lead the investigation and resolution of NCR’s relating to EGSE
• Support bid preparation activities and prepare Technical Specifications and Statements of Work as required
• Work with the AIT teams to ensure the EGSE is correctly configured for their testing phase
• Prepare the EGSE for transportation, and perform set up and validation on environmental test and launch campaigns
