We are currently looking for a Design Engineer to join our Engineering and Technology team. The role involves being the main Engineering point of contact for one of our main Ice Protection Systems (IPS) value streams. The team and our customers will be looking for leadership from this individual and guidance with respect to Design Engineering matters. The ability to work well in teams and communicate effectively is essential. Duties and Responsibilities:
* Main Engineering point of contact for one of our main Ice Protection Systems (IPS) value streams
* Daily support of manufacturing value streams from a Design Engineering point of view
* Responsibility to lead technical projects with minimal supervision
* Development of novel solutions to meet customer requirements and support bid activities
* Preparation of technical reports and design documents to support internal and external reviews
* Requirements management
* Specifying, developing and co-ordinating test activities (e.g. mechanical testing, functional testing)
* Customer and supplier liaison
* Make airworthiness decisions based on solid engineering logic, data and experience
* The possibility to support the development of new technologies

We are looking for someone to be an integral part of the team, and also a self-starter with the drive to develop their skills further. Someone with the planning and communication abilities to make a real contribution to complex engineering projects, with the ability to execute key packages of work whilst working to fixed deadlines. Someone willing to question why, continuously improve, and stretch out of their comfort zone while helping to create the next generation of aerospace components. Experience and knowledge of any of the following would be expected/seen as beneficial:

* A Bachelor or Masters Degree in engineering is desirable
* Experience in the design and/or manufacturing is essential
* The ability to work in teams and communicate effectively is essential
* The ability to problem solve in a timely manner is essential
* Knowledge of system design is highly desirable
* Design experience of electrical components is highly desirable * Composites knowledge is highly desirable
* Airworthiness knowledge is highly desirable
* Practical ability to work with composites is desirable
* MS Office suite
* Prior aerospace R&D experience would be beneficial
* Ability to work under pressure
