The role of the Criticality Assessor is to act as a Technical Authority and Intelligent Customer and to provide subject matter expertise to ensure Criticality Safety for UUK operations through the production and peer review of Criticality Safety Assessments produced by or on behalf of UUK by the supply chain.
Organisational & Job Context
The purpose of the UUK Safety Case Team (within the Compliance department) is to Deliver, Implement, Adopt and Maintain fit for purpose Safety Cases to support UUK operations. The role of Criticality Assessor is to fulfil the Technical Authority and Intelligent Customer requirements for Criticality Safety Assessments. The Criticality Assessor ensures the technical integrity of Safety Assessments produced by or on behalf of UUK by upholding the standards of the UUK Safety Case Framework (UUK Safety Case Manual and UUK Safety Assessment Handbook) and through assurance to the UUK Safety Case governance function with respect to the validity of Criticality Assessments. Key internal stakeholder relationships are with the Site Safety Case Manager, Safety Case Owners (service demander) Nuclear Safety Assurance (Safety Case Framework) and the UUK safety case governance function. Key external stakeholders include the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), Environment Agency (EA) and supply chain engagement (as service providers to UUK). The Criticality Assessor will be required to use or critically evaluate outputs from specialist software packages e.g. MONK analysis.
