Our client a leading Oil & Gas Operator are seeking a Cost Accountant for an ongoing contract opportunity based in Aberdeen.

Position Overview

The Cost Accountant will support relevant PREs (Persons Responsible for Expenditure) in the cost management of allocated cost categories
/ activities potentially both opex and capex. Cost management duties to cover all aspects of the cost cycle: planning, forecasting, tracking
and optimisation. Cost Analyst will work closely with the relevant PREs / Engineers to optimise costs across work programmes.


Support the preparation of annual budgets for allocated cost centers within the Assets
Accurate forecasting against allocated budget
Maintenance of standaridised, simplified and automated cost trackers
Provide robust support within the procurement process in relation to raising of commitments and liaising with vendors
Provide robust cost challenge, internally and externally, in support of cost optimisation
Solid understanding of key contracts underpinning allocated areas of responsibility
Developing and maintaining a close relationship with the Bangalore JV Finance team

Key Duties

Provide support to Asset PREs across the full spectrum of cost management. Primary focus will be gross costs
Cost control, providing appropriate level of reporting to Analyst Lead or Finance lead, and supporting other Team Leads
Monitor commitments, ensuring correct allocation of costs
Act as focal point for cost and invoice management for assigned Contractor(s) / categories
Update relevant cost forecasts (Infocore)
Work with PRE to ensure / identify funding availability for new / emergent work, ensuring appropriate reporting of substitution or
additional funding requirement
Apply best practices across delivery, leveraging cost engineering experience to date
Establish and maintain strong, highly effective working relations with Asset Accountant / Business Analysts
Liaise with SCM Contract Analysts as required
Liaise with Third Party Vendors as required
Provide SAP reports to enable detailed analysis of Asset spend and develop knowledge of SAP modules and processes
Other ad hoc cost related delivery
Assist in other asset areas as required

Education Attainment & Accreditation

HND or ideally degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering or business discipline, with extensive experience within the oil and
gas industry

Professional Skills & Experience

Significant practical cost and financial planning experience gained within a production / maintenance / operations environment.
Proven cost management skills / experience
Experience of commercial negotiations preferable
