Our client are a Tier 1 construction contractor who are looking for a Glasgow based construction package engineer. They require a graduate (preferably qualified in Construction Management or Civil Engineering) with around 2 yrs' experience on day release or 12 months industry experience.

You will be deployed on a construction regeneration project in the Glasgow area and the company will provide you with excellent career development opportunity.

Job Overview Purpose
A member of the project team, reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, coordination/management of a number of sub-contractor employed in a variety of trades within the respective area of works.

You'll work with Architects, Engineers, Construction Workers, Sub-contractors, Client agents, Clerk of Works and Site Staff.
Typical sub-contractor packages are likely to be:
*Sub-structure and drainage
*Steel-frame/Concrete Frame
*Secondary Steelwork
*Curtain walling and composite cladding
*Precast Concrete
*Metal Pilasters
*Bauder roofing
*Fit-out and Finishes
*Brickwork / Blockwork
*Insitu Concrete
*Dry Lining
*Joinery & Ironmongery
*Internal Finishes

*Working with the Commercial staff write the Scope of Works
*Coordination and management of sub-contractors
*Ensure obligations to sub-contractor are understood and discharged
*Organise and lead regular site progress meetings with sub-contractors
*Managing the technical aspects of the on and off site works
*Be the principal point of contact responsible for all works
*Review package tender information produced by the Design Team
*Ensure that the sub-contractor are working to the latest design info and provide technical advice
*Monitoring progress against the weekly programmes on a daily basis
*Produce and maintain short term look ahead programmes
*Ensure sub-contractors meet their requirements
*Producing, reviewing and approving risk assessments
*Monitoring the implementation of the method statements and I&TPs
*Carrying out and recording of surveillances and inspections
*Coordinating and managing design information
*Ensure that all sub-contractors are working to the latest design information and provide technical support when required
*Checking workmanship/material for compliance
*Ensure quality construction standards and suitable construction techniques are adopted
*Monitor and report on sub-contractor performance from all perspectives
*Procurement of materials through the buying department
*Recording any events which affect the day's activities in a comprehensive site diary
*To liaise with all levels of staff within the project, site staff, sub-contractors, to ensure the effective delivery of all packages
*Set up regular, clear lines of communication to address issues that may arise
*Advise the Project Manager/Project Director and Commercial Manager of any cost/program implications of the sub-contractor site activities
*Compiling Company Management System (CMS) records
*Ensuring that sub-contractors records are compiled, processed and completed

*Minimum 2-4 years' work experience within the construction industry
*Proven working experience in package management
*Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
*A good practical understanding of Health & Safety requirements
*A good understanding of all facets of the construction process
*Familiarity with construction software packages
*Ability to prioritise, plan, schedule and evaluate works
*Ability to prepare a 3 week look-ahead programme with assistance of project planner
*Ability to manage conflict through conflict resolution

*Knowledge and experience in use of Project Planning/Programme Techniques

*Degree in civil engineering construction management or related field
*Relevant Construction Skills Certificate Card
*Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS, First Aid at Work, Fire Marshall


*A Package Engineer is expected to develop the key skills and knowledge necessary to enable promotion to the role of Section Engineer or Chief Engineer
