I am supporting my Infrastructure Client in Stratford with the recruitment of a Stakeholder Relations Officer on a temporary basis.

The purpose of the role will be to work as part of both the Network Rail and the communications teams to ensure a consistent community and stakeholder relations approach, in line with established procedures and processes. You will act as the main point of contact between the project and communication teams and work on site to build relationships with communities impacted by works carried out, delivering outreach programs to communicate projects, and identifying opportunities to support local initiatives.

Supporting the Network Rail community relations team to develop external stakeholder plans including communications calendar, key messages, identifying stakeholders, developing methods of engagement, in tandem with the Network Rail Communications Manager, develop and deliver communications materials and content for review and agreement, as agreed with the project leadership and client

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with Network Rail team to plan, develop and support community outreach around projects
  • Planning and delivering local information / engagement materials, events, displays, etc
  • Develop and plan proactive community giving programme, e.g. volunteering, school engagement, and STEM activities with any communications needs including collating case studies and success stories
  • Work to devise, develop and deliver project content such as photography, video, case studies and other relevant material as needed
  • Liaise with communication teams and support on PR activities

Experience and qualifications;

  • Experience working in a similar role or on infrastructure projects with clear skills and expertise gained from working in community or stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; skillful at identifying key messages and priorities for local community stakeholders; and experience in developing plans to support effective stakeholder outreach
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and evidence in doing so either from an in-house or agency role
  • Skilled at planning, good organisation and project management skills
  • Ability to proactively build effective relationships based on a collaborative and open approach with a range of stakeholders
