Job Title: Commercial Officer
Reports to: (Job Title) Commercial Manager
Working Hours: Full-time Date of this version of Job Description: Sept 18
This is an exciting entry role into the discipline of Commercial and Contract Management.
As part of the commercial team you will be working to understand how we do business and be given responsibility for monitoring and reporting Ascent and supplier performance ensuring delivery of key products, maintaining stakeholder relations, contract administration and information management, ensuring compliance against contract obligations.

Monitor Ascent/supplier contract performance Monitor MOD/Supplier/Ascent compliance with Contracts and Commercial Law Contracts/Contractor's perform as required supporting delivery of our commitments to our customer whilst protecting Ascent's interests
Contract administration Act as custodian of and administer Contracts & related contractual documents Contracts/Contractor's perform as required supporting delivery of our commitments to our customer whilst protecting Ascent's interests
Manage stakeholder relations Act as a formal contractual interface with MOD & suppliers Communications with our customer and suppliers are managed efficiently and effectively whilst protecting Ascent's interests
Change Management Assist in the management of contract changes, ensuring changes are logged, suppliers engaged and change proposals drafted Changes are managed efficiently in accordance with the change process to support customer needs and Ascent business objectives
Information Management Maintain information asset register in accordance with Ascent's Information Assurance Policy and drive Ascent's use of contract management ICT High value information is managed effectively to meet Ascent business objectives
Reporting Legal, contractual and commercial issues are proactively reported in a timely manner using the relevant process/format Senior Leadership Team and Ascent Board are adequately informed to provide appropriate strategic direction and support
Communicate rights & obligations Communicate Contract rights/obligations providing visibility & awareness Legal & Contractual rights and obligations are appropriately and proactively communicated to the relevant Ascent staff and wider stakeholders in a timely manner
Partnering (applicable to all Ascent staff)
Uphold partnering behaviours and participate in events as required
Resulting in successful partnering relationships internally within Ascent and externally across UKMFTS
Health, Safety & Environment/Air Safety (applicable to all Ascent staff) Uphold adherence to the Health, Safety & Environmental Polices and Air Safety responsibilities Resulting in no avoidable loss of life or injury to first, second or third parties as a result of any aspect of Ascent Flight Training Aviation or Ground Operations
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Core Competence including (Practitioner Level): (a) communication (b) team working including building relationships and giving support (c) change, innovation and adaptability (d) investigating issues, processing details, problem solving and making decisions (e) structuring tasks, planning and prioritising
ICT Competence (Practitioner Level) - including experience of relevant common business ICT tools including Microsoft Office and SharePoint
Minimum 2:2 (Hons) degree
'Procurement Commercial Competence' (Awareness Level) including skills, experience and knowledge of managing competitions, bid evaluation and negotiation
'Contract Management Commercial Competence' (Awareness Level) including skills, experience and knowledge of service delivery & performance management, supplier relationship management, contract administration.
'Sector awareness Commercial Competence' including knowledge and awareness of the Company, UK defence, aerospace/simulation industry sectors and supporting technologies including aerospace, simulation, training and infrastructure
The International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) Certification or equivalent experience
