An opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join our prestigious client


Reporting to the VP of Programmes and has a matrix reporting line to the Site Director, the Commercial Manager leads the Commercial Department and is accountable to the General Manager for the site's non-accounting business disciplines including:

  • Commercial Governance & Compliance;
  • Contract Negotiation & Dispute Resolution;
  • Quotations and Pricing;
  • Business and Financial Modelling;
  • Export Control;
  • Order Book Administration;

This may include;

  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations;
  • Managing the Commercial Department and commercial interface with customers on a day-to-day basis;
  • Taking an active role in developing commercial strategies for growth and profitability including pricing strategy;
  • Supporting bid strategy in accordance with company procedures;
  • Preparing annual price lists and bid pricing in accordance with commercial procedures;
  • Negotiation of commercial, technical and legal terms and conditions;
  • Analysis of the sales order book and reporting on order book coverage and integrity;
  • Governance of export control to ensure compliance with Government regulations and contractual export obligations.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified to an undergraduate degree in a relevant legal/business discipline or equivalent years of experience;
  • Previous experience of bidding and negotiating contracts (both price and terms & conditions), ideally within Aerospace or Defence;
  • Working knowledge of UK Contract Law with experience of reviewing, drafting and negotiating terms & conditions;
  • Experience of working with and influencing cross-functional teams


  • Provide leadership to the Commercial Department by demonstrating good professional practice and setting expectations;
  • Capable of handling negotiations with Customers
  • Ability to reason logically and read analytically with good drafting skills.

  • Flexible and able to work to changing deadlines
  • Able to set priorities of own work and the work of internal stakeholders


  • Must be willing to travel as required from time to time, including internationally
  • Excellent computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft work packages (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills would be an advantage but not essential (formula, pivot tables, macros etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP and or other MRP/ERP systems would also be desirable.
