The Commercial and Procurement Officer will work closely with the BAE Systems Strategic
Aerospace Services Limited (BSL UK) Head Office Team and be responsible for overseeing
commercial and procurement activities as directed by the Head of Commercial and
Procurement.

This will include:
Providing commercial and procurement services to meet the operational needs
of BSL UK
Building and developing relationships with Customers and suppliers
Sourcing a multitude of equipment and services that are required by BSL UK
Ensuring that BSL UK adheres to its governance, processes, and procedures at
all times.
The Commercial and Procurement Officer works as a member of the Commercial and
Procurement Function and the BSL UK Head Office Team to provide end to end Commercial
and Procurement services to meet the operational needs of BSL UK.
Reporting to the BSL UK General Manager, with functional reporting to the BSL Head of
Commercial and Procurement, the delivery of this service is as a member of a Commercial and
Procurement team.
The role requires a good and broad professional knowledge and understanding of Commercial
and Procurement Principles, Techniques and Practices, including an understanding of the
impact and implications of decisions made.
The Commercial and Procurement Officer, as a member of the Commercial and Procurement
team, will deploy BSL Commercial and Procurement processes in line with business
requirements and will also be required to ensure that the appropriate processes are followed
(i.e. due diligence).
Support all Business Winning activities from the early stages, through bidding, negotiation,
contract award, contract amendment and contract closure / delivery.
Work closely with all functions to ensure that all work is carried out in strict compliance with
the BSL policies and processes.
Build strong, effective relationships with Customers and Suppliers as well as a wide range of
internal and external stakeholders.
Provide Subject Matter Expertise of Commercial and Procurement practices, to the BSL UK
General Manager and the BSL UK Head Office Team
Be able to manage and control data and information (inputs and outputs), demonstrating a
high, audit-able level of configuration control.
Forge long standing relationships with suppliers that provides a solid foundation of a supplier
base for BSL UK in the UK market.
Ensure any new potential Suppliers are taken through the due diligence process.
Provide Subject Matter Expertise on all Procurement related matters for BSL UK.
Ensure that planned procurement's are executed effectively.
Prepare and agree the appropriate Procurement artefacts are in place to facilitate successful
contract execution with any suppliers (e.g. Purchase Orders, Payment Plans, CoA's, and
Invoice Transaction).
Oversee the supply chain/export licensing/customs process for the delivery of items being
procured overseas and shipped to the UK.
Ensure functional alignment with any processes and procedures being adopted by BSL UK and
its Shareholders.
The candidate will need to have previous experience in a Commercial and Procurement role.



Knowledge of the applicable laws (UK) and regulations.
The ability to promote change and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong organisational and motivational skills.
Competent in the use of IT, spreadsheets, word processing and database management.
Must be able to coordinate multiple priorities in a dynamic operating environment, working
with a high degree of autonomy.
Experience of operating in both a UK and Middle East and Military environment would be
preferred.
