An exciting opportunity for a Category Manager has arisen within our defence client's Indirect Procurement Function. You will be responsible for the Procurement Category for Travel, HR and Communications. This role will be remote but as and when Covid restrictions allow there will be the need to be in Reading 1 - 2 days/week.

The Category Manager is accountable for end to end performance of the acquisition process via the management of the RFI & RFPs . As well as being expected to lead major / business critical supplier selection exercises to support business needs and to ensure the deployment, implementation and monitoring of agreed category strategies.

As the Category Manager you will be responsible for the supplier relationship management and continuous improvement of suppliers within the category and the management of suppliers performance including, but not limited to, quality, cost, delivery, contractual performance and innovation. You will be accountable for ensuring the most up-to-date knowledge of supplier markets, including new innovations and key emerging technologies relevant to their category. An essential element of his role is to ensure that the suppliers provide the competitiveness required to support the business and to introduce optimal supply base changes to support business winning capability.

We are looking for an experienced individual with specific experience within the Travel, HR and Communications Procurement Category (fleet vehicle category management experience preferred) It is essential that you are an effective communicator as you will be interacting with senior management and senior stakeholders, in complex project environment. The right individual will have product policy, design / product development with cross functional teams in a Procurement Bids and Project role as well as having exposure to sub-contract management and delivery of complex solutions.
