Title: Category Manager - Construction + Engineering

Location: Chester

Day rate: £350-500 per day

Duration: 12-18 months

Our client is looking for an Interim Category Manager to support a major refurbishment project, with an approximate value of £500 million across 6-8 years. We are looking for candidates with extensive experience across EPC procurement gained in £300 million projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end ITT process.
  • Technical Query Management
  • Tender evaluations & negotiations
  • Ability to present to Senior Executives
  • Extensive competence in pre and post contract award management
  • Updating contracts and schedules
  • Expediting strategic procurement items
  • Continuous stakeholder engagement with accountability for schedule management
  • Ability to maintain comprehensive and accurate project records
  • Competent in detailed contract variation management with experience of contract management web-based tools
  • Ability to integrate EPC contract within a wider contract portfolio
  • Develop and deliver contract management briefings to the Project Team
  • Ensure all cross functional team members fully understand their contractual obligations to support project delivery
  • Undertake supply chain quality management audits
  • Proactive risk mitigation management

Candidate Overview

  • Degree (or equivalent)
  • CIPS qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to analyse suitability of procurement levers to build a robust category plan
  • Negotiation skills
  • Stakeholder management and relationship building
  • Extensive Engineering Procurement Construction and Owners Engineer Procurement experience gained in £300m+ projects.
  • Able to manage conflicts effectively and efficiently to benefit the project delivery and protect commercial interests
  • Able to hold Nuclear Baseline and SC security clearance levels
