The Category Lead is responsible for category management of an area of the Company's spend. With the Contracting Specialists reporting to them, the Category Lead will ensure client receives the goods and services required from the supply chain in an efficient, reliable and cost optimised manner. The role will report directly to the Contracts Manager, with dotted lines to internal clients as appropriate.

Accountabilities

Manage a portfolio of spend and contracts between the themselves and Contract Specialists
Cross Assets Contracts Review & Strategy Development
Contract Strategy implementation for Category Managed contracts
Post award Contract Performance Management (CPM) implementation with commitment and focus that will help support robust contract delivery and performance attainment
Working on the annual contracting plan with the Contracts Manager
Input into Category Management process and Performance Improvement
Apply RSRUK contracting principles and procedures, and ensuring minimum contracting standards are adhered to
Performance Management of direct reports

Key Duties

Applying sound business / SCM judgment and decision making to support business objectives
Providing coaching to internal clients on the application of modern SCM principles
Contributing significantly to safety and operational efficiencies, including the Company's OPEX and CAPEX costs
Establishing contracting strategies and being accountable for implementation
Executing the category management cycle - Strategy Development, Strategy Implementation & Contract Performance Management
Ensuring all contracts reflect the companies approved contracting positions
Developing strategy papers and robust award recommendations ensuring quality of documentation from their category teams
Conducting tenders and oversee evaluations
Leading negotiations
Drafting quality negotiated contracts, utilising standard company contract templates and in conjunction with the SCM Legal department
Contributing towards contractor performance delivery through a process of Contract Performance Management (CPM)
Ensuring that the Contractual records within the appropriate electronic and physical repositories are accurately maintained
Enabling the organisation to manage change effectively (VOR's, Amendments) through the life cycle of the main contracts
Working in an open and collaborative manner with key strategic contractors to ensure business delivery needs are clearly understood and performance targets (KPI's) are continually monitored to ensure successful attainment
Building key relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Meeting regularly with key contractors to ensure the Company's needs are being met, that strategic value of the relationships is being realised and that the Company is meeting its obligations to the contractor to help position the contract for success.

Education Attainment & Accreditation

Graduate level, ideally in Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Finance, Law or other relevant subject
Post Graduate Diploma or Master's Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management or Commercial Law preferred (MCIPS or equivalent)

Professional Skills & Experience

Broad experience of Contracts & Procurement in the Oil & Gas Industry preferably with an Operator or Tier 1 Contractor
Significant experience of Supply Chain Management in the UKCS with a good understanding of the marketplace, and contracting landscape as it applies to production operations, reservoir & wells and projects
Line management experience, including regular coaching and development of team personnel
Experience of the full procurement lifecycle from strategy formulation and strategic sourcing through to negotiation and contract performance management
Good experience with ERP/EAMS systems (specifically Maximo) and other associated SCM systems
Experience of building good internal relations and being recognised as a proactive, positive contributor
Ability to work with established processes and guidelines whilst continually looking at areas for improvement

Circumstances

Ability to travel to sites outside of Aberdeen - Peterhead, Flotta and offshore installations - as required by the business and undertake any medical or training courses required to complete such necessary travel
Ability to travel to supplier/contractor premises outside of Aberdeen and the UK - as required by the business.
