Our client are a leading design and consultancy firm that specialise in projects within the highways and infrastructure sector.

At present they require the services of a CAD Technician to join their HS2 Phase 1 project.

Duties are to include:

  • Take responsibility for own safety and understand ASC Health and Safety Principles
  • Develop awareness and understanding of the contribution of the wide project community in the successful delivery of projects
  • develop awareness of the business benefits derived from Global Design
  • Support the production of project CAD deliverables including drawings that are accurate, clear and concise and compliant with Arcadis drafting standards, best practice and any other standards dictated by the nature of the project
  • Ensure compliance with Arcadis drafting standards and national drafting standards
  • Deliver work that meet client and ASC requirements
  • Work under close supervision
  • Use available expertise on routine tasks
  • Contribute to CAD deliverables including sketches, schematic drawings and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Advance their technical software skills within their role
  • Undertake document management including drawing registers
  • Check your own work ahead of production checking
  • Check and verify that quality requirements have been achieved in accordance with ASC systems
  • Successfully complete assigned technical tasks including drafting work within budget and deadlines
  • Follows training plan for professional development. attend appropriate events
  • Must develop skills including technician skills and people management skills
  • Commit to receiving on the job technical training by performing tasks, which are under the direct supervision of more experienced staff within well defined limits
  • Attend knowledge network to support ASC knowledge sharing

Candidate specification:

  • Have awareness of ASC Integrated Management System requirements
  • Have awareness of CDM Regulations and the use of hazard identification and risk assessment during design development
  • Have an knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
  • Have an awareness of use of project Design Decision Logs and Project Assumptions registers to record and agree key project decisions
  • Develop proficiency in relevant desktop applications
  • Have effective time management skills
  • Can work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under close supervision
  • Working towards a qualification in relevant technical subject including elements of CAD/Drafting (Higher National Certificate or equivalent)
  • Typically have relevant proven experience in project work
