Buying Assistant

The role of a Buying Assistant is to provide support to the buyers on an ad-hoc basis. The assistant's role will encompass competitor data capture, sales and ad-hoc reporting for the buyer. It will also involve managing and implementation of range changes on an ongoing basis and assisting the buyer as required.


 New product set up on an ongoing basis, taking account of key catalogue deadlines
 Competitor data capture, analysis of existing data and systems, updating information and accuracy of existing data
 Reporting and information gathering as required, such as sales and margin analysis
 General buyer support for day-to-day management ranges
 Liaise the planning and booking of trips and travel itinerary for the buyer
 Ensure quality control reports and any customer related quality control issues are regularly and effectively managed
 Driven by a calendar, get every product out of stock, within category, to proactively drive product consistency and continuous improvement
 Build product landscapes by product area that are maintained regularly
 Assist strategy planning through work with the business intelligence team and assist in the building and maintenance of strategy packs
 Ensure catalogues deadlines are met
 Ensure artwork for products is efficiently signed off/or escalated where issues occur in the buyers absence
 Identify and manage vendor performance
 Maintenance of vendors in the global supplier directory
 Management of samples for testing, artwork and storage
 Full data integrity for every product including cutter guides, exploded diagrams for spares, inner and outer barcode compliance
 Maintenance of product specifications and any gaps
 Spares maintenance and set up
 Ensure that all certification is available for all products
System Report Processing:
 Product requires pricing report
 Product requires review for packaging alert
 Barcode requires setting up/completion
Provide Support to the Buying Director on a Day-to-Day Basis
 Provide support and cover in the buying administrators absence and during key periods
 Run reports and analysis at Buying Director's request
 Ad-hoc support to the Buying Director as requested
Merchandising of Exclusive Brands
 Ensure the products/ranges recommended by a buyer qualify for catalogue inclusion and are fully checked prior to presentation to the Buying Director
 Review poor sellers and offer recommendations for catalogue removal
 Ensure all departments within the commercial team have all necessary information to set up new products
 Process new products through the New Product Workflow
 Build up presentations by brand for external and internal presentations
