Buyer - £35,000 - £55,000

Reporting into the Head of buying you will be responsible for:

 Responsible for sourcing and purchasing of new and existing products.
 Negotiate excellent prices whilst maintaining high quality levels.
 Liaise with international suppliers and internal departments.
 Ensure appropriate stock levels are purchased.
 Conduct range reviews to improve and expand upon the categories
The ideal candidate will be competent in prioritising and working with little supervision. They will be self-motivated and trustworthy.
Responsibilities :
 To source and purchase new and existing products, matching the criteria set by the business
 Monitor and evaluate with reference to financial reports the success of products and ranges and offering short term and long term changes to improve sales
 Evaluate and recommend suitable sources of supply and strategically identify and eradicate weak suppliers
 Continually assess the performance of approved suppliers to ensure contracts meet and exceed the business objectives of cost, quality and service
 Strategically drive the range review calendar and passionately drive change
 Ideally to have an understanding within the hand and power tools market
 Ensure the company objectives of introducing a given quantity of new products for each new catalogue are met
 Work cohesively with the Supply Chain facilitating timely deliveries and maintenance of adequate stock levels
 To liaise with the 'Quality Assurance' Technician regarding new & resource products. Ensure that products meet both legal and internal standards
 Ensure resourcing is completed in an effective and timely manner
 Ensure artwork forms are completed in a timely and correct manner
 Ensure all procedural practices are followed to create safe products which the business can be proud of
 Continuous process improvement, always look at ways to buy better
 Communication - strong written and verbal communication required to create clear product road maps and ranges with clear spoken justifications for why products / ranges must be driven forward
 Travel will be required for attending Trade Shows and Fairs both in the UK and around the world
 Working closely with a merchandiser based in Shanghai to ensure current suppliers are performing and help sourcing new product

 Technically minded with a genuine interest in the companies product.
 To be confident communicating at all levels
 Excellent analytical and organisational skills
 Must possess strong negotiation skills
 Effective computer skills, including using spreadsheets and databases.
 Work to a daily pattern
 A proactive rather than reactive style of working.
 Working in a growing organisation and working under pressure to meet strict deadlines
 To have a strong commercial understanding
 Working knowledge of stock management
 Communicating with international suppliers on a regular basis
 Ability to work on own initiative
 Ability to prioritise and adhere to strict deadlines
 NVQ in Procurement
 Buying from an international market
