Job Description

As a result of continuing strong growth, we are seeking to recruit a Rolling Stock Business Manager into our Rail Business Management team.

The vacancy will appeal to candidates who want the opportunity to lead the rapid growth of the rolling stock business in a successful and innovative engineering and technology consultancy company.

You will be driving the development of the rolling stock business in an organisation that won innovation awards in 2012, 2014 and 2016 including two rail industry innovation awards.

The key focus within this role is business development and the management of our current and future portfolio covering franchising, rolling stock manufacturers, the rolling stock equipment supply chain, ROSCOs, TOCs and FOCs.

We are seeking to further develop our presence across the UK with all of these client types, and to build on our reputation for the delivery of value add engineering consultancy and strategic services across the complete lifecycle of rolling stock projects.

The role description of the Rolling Stock Business Manager is summarised below:

*Contribute to the strategy of the business and own elements of the Sector 5 year plan;

*Influence the development of our technical, engineering consultancy and advisory services towards the needs of the Rolling Stock market;

*Utilise existing contacts, and further develop a network of Rolling Stock clients and contacts in the UK;

*Identify, characterise, influence, and capture opportunities for delivery by the business;

*Support internal delivery and maintain excellent customer relations, quality, programmes, and profitability across a portfolio of projects.


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

*Strong business development and customer relationship management skills, an established and diverse set of railway industry contacts and a good reputation in the client community;

*Significant Rolling Stock sector experience - We would welcome applications from individuals with engineering consultancy and business development experience within the Rolling Stock Industry. Those of most interest given our current portfolio of work and aspirations for growth are: train control, life extension information systems and digital, asset management and franchising;

*An established track record of eliciting requirements, developing solutions, strategic thinking, business development, capture planning and delivery in a relevant environment;

*Excellent communication skills;

*Commercial awareness and the capability to provide leadership on bids and projects;

*Good leadership skills, with the ability to motivate individuals and teams across the business;
