Job Description

We are working with one of our defence clients to find an experienced Business Finance Function Controller to work at their site in Oxfordshire.

The successful applicant with join the TASWK, Military Aircraft UK Support Centre and will act as the focal point controlling operational cost, along with managing the Functions and Subsidiaries Financial controlling model across a multifunction team.

The role requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.

You will functionally report into the Finance Director and operationally to the head of TAWSK

Part time hours would also be considered with experienced applicants who require flexible working hours

Tasks and Accountabilities

- Maintain cost, revenue and cash forecast for the entity/business function
- Work with operational teams to forecast resource plans and cost impact
- Help record and evaluate risks or opportunities
- Assist in regular OP and FC processes
- Act as control point for operational costs
- Approval for external costs and internal resources
- Liaison with Procurement team to ensure correct evaluation of open commitment and timely recognition of cost
- Report financial performance and analysts to TASWK local management and MA Services programme customers
- To track actual costs and revenue allocation against OP targets and analyse and explain variances
- Produce meaningful analytics to support local operational management
- Present to local TASWL/TASW management as and when (with or without support of Finance Director)
- Present to Military Aircraft Services Programme customers (e.g. TASA)
- Work very closely with Services Controlling teams (TFAS) on all matters
- Work with AMUK Commercial Team to ensure financial adherence to contractual, commercial requirements
- Assist with single source reporting requirements to MOD ad SSRO
- Ad-hoc reporting for MOD or other UK Government agencies
- Work closely with FAS to co-ordinate end-of-month closing activities ensuring periodic postings, accrual, sales reserves
- Work closely with FAS to support production of external Financial Statements (Statutory Accounts etc)
- To provide support in invoicing process to internal and external customers
- To ensure all necessary SLAS are in place and up to date between the Subsidiary and related entities
- Act as local deputy to Finance Director where necessary
- To identify and implement appropriate processes, procedures and tools as required (e.g. help implement click 'n' buy)
- To launch and lead new financial initiatives pursuing continuous improvements and challenge existing processes and procedures

Required Skills

- Already hold or working toward Accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA) or have appropriate demonstrated experience/ knowledge/aptitude
- Understanding of Financial statements (P&L, B/S, Cashflow)
- Good MS Excel Skills
- Good understanding of SAP FI/CO modules and SAP MM processes
- Excellent Inter-personal skills
- Ability to self-manage tasks and work autonomously
- Willingness to learn and work flexibly
