Our client is an integrated facilities management services who provide the solutions, support, and facilities management services and they are looking for a Building Services Engineer to be based on a static site in Crossness, Dartford.

Job Purpose:

  • To provide support as part of a multi-disciplined team. This role covers both reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
  • The individual is expected to manage his/her own workload.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Routine reactive maintenance, as well cover for planned preventative maintenance tasks as directed by Supervisor covering all buildings within the site and the following:
  • To undertake all duties in a safe, tidy and responsible manner in accordance with H&S requirements
  • Carry out the service and maintenance of the diverse types of building services plant equipment (PPMs and reactive) under the contract in accordance with current standards and safety procedures.
  • Carry our minor electrical works.
  • Carry out minor building fabric works.
  • To ensure that all relevant paper work is completed satisfactorily to the expected standard
  • Provide assistance to third parties as and when required.
  • To work reasonable overtime as and when required.
  • Assistance on other sites can be expected.
  • To be responsible for the care and proper use of equipment and tools
  • Ensure that spares and materials are used in a cost effective manner
  • Support other team members as and when required
  • To carry out other duties as may be reasonably requested by site management or the client
  • Engage and manage contractor delivery for planned and reactive work.
  • Takes responsibility for your own workload and where possible ensure that the target times for each task are met
  • Manage your own workload and work efficiently
  • Comply with the client's company rules and maintain a high standard of discipline
  • Provide assistance to third parties as and when required.
  • Support the completion of a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with site and company rules, procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Liaise with supervisor / service centre administrators to ensure all services are carried out on time in accordance with site service planner.
  • Out of Hours work could be required - Call out Cover approx. 1 week in 7
  • Part of call out rota
  • Travel required to other locations for support/ cover

Personal Specification:

  • Educated to a good level
  • Experience in building maintenance
  • Awareness of Health and Safety regulation
  • Knowledge of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
  • Must be open to receiving training and development as an when required
  • Must be able to work under own initiative and take direction well
  • Valid full driving licence
  • Substantial operational and technical experience with demonstrated potential.
  • Technical expertise, qualifications or apprenticeship in a craft skill or engineering discipline would be an important pre-requisite of the role.
  • Knowledge of key operational procedures e.g. time sheets, planned maintenance systems, Quality and Health & Safety.
  • Substantial operational and technical experience with demonstrated potential.
  • Experience of positively dealing with the resolution of customer problems within specific contracts.
  • Demonstrated 'hands-on' technical expertise in a number of key operational areas.
